I'm not a concert-going man... I've always preferred high-quality listening with my little setup, but in the last two years, I've changed course a bit, and after the trilogy of the most criticized on DeBaser (Dream Theater, Roger Waters, Iron Maiden), I hit a quartet with one of the legendary voices of rock, Robert Plant.
Here the criticisms end right where they begin, because it's really difficult to find someone who disagrees on the greatness of Led Zeppelin.
The day is scorching and even personally a bit off, so problems at home and great fatigue don't bring me to the event in great shape. I must say I was predisposed, I wasn’t expecting a great show, I was afraid that good old Robert's voice was no longer what it used to be and that he would especially focus the setlist on pieces from his solo career.
So there were all the premises for a bad night and instead... it was beautiful. There certainly wasn't the crowd of great occasions, there were really few of us, but the average age was lower than what I expected, which is always nice, as was the decent amount of good-looking women! Why do I always meet girls who are Ramazzotti fans? I could marry one who listens to Led Zeppelin!
Robert knows the limits of a sixty-year-old's voice and doesn't overdo it with the high notes, so those he hits are like the old times. The band accompanying him is truly respectable and in great harmony with our hero. The setlist, apart from a few parentheses, is centered entirely on Zeppelin's pieces and reaches its peak in Going to California, Since I've Been Loving You, and Whole Lotta Love.
From start to finish, I was filled with an energy that only the greats know how to convey and the day miraculously turned around! Truly a great show, the only flaw was the somewhat short duration, but from an "old man," one couldn't expect more!
