Marco, 'The Best Youth' is practically a 6-hour extended film (like 'Heimat'), a fiction more unique than 'anomalous': directed by Marco Tullio Giordana, 30 years of Italian History (with very little of the typical TV sentimentality), a top-tier cast, syrupiness kept to a minimum, and coincidentally strong Rai ostracism against immediately broadcasting the 4 episodes (in fact, it was released first in theaters in 2 parts...). Thank goodness the result is excellent, like saying "..well, not bad seeing Theron among 39 seventy-year-olds with wigs & dentures.."
