R.E.M. Accelerate

The New Adventures In Hi-Fi at the time seemed like a must, but I have to say that it really dropped for me: still at excellent levels, though, but beyond the famous singles, something doesn't add up. In many tracks (like 'Leave', 'Binky the doormat' or 'Undertow') it feels like going in circles, there's too much empty sound; and in fact, many tracks were recorded during the soundcheck of the 'Monster' tour.
P.S. - My second-tier R.E.M. (4 stars): 6) Life's rich pageant 7) Green 8) Monster 9) New adventures in hi-fi 10) Out of time (unfortunately, but only for 'Country feedback', 'Losing my religion' and 'Low').

Here... I mean, no, what I wanted to say is that...'Lungo i bordi' by Massimo Volume should be played in the trashed Italic schools.

"A violent record. These words would be enough to give an idea of 'Germi.' When I think of this album, the first image that comes to mind is that of Agnelli hurting someone just for the pleasure of it...": Agnelli como Mel Gibson or Materazzi? To the posters the harsh sentence. A landmark album, in my personal and exclusive Top 30 italiani. If a Finn were to ask me for a tricolor rock disc, well, I’d say "grab this one & shut up, because if it weren't for Raikkonen, no one would be paying attention to you!"

Agreed with the Don, and then regarding the acceleration, there's that damn 'Sing for the submarine' that I still have to decipher properly: it feels like a lost episode of 'Lost.' In its DNA, there are traces of the "sound-food" (to put it like dear Riccardo B.) between 'Reveal' & 'Around the Sun.' The latter might be a bit dull, but it's not the damned shit that the legends talk about.

I don't know, Grant... Apart from 'Living well is the best revenge' or 'Man-sized wreath', the best of Accelerate is paradoxically when Stipe & co. slow down; like 'Houston' and 'Until the day is done' (that will be the new single, I bet a PD poster on it). What are your favorite R.E.M. albums? Here’s my Top 5: 1) Automatic for the people 2) Murmur 3) Fables of the reconstruction 4) Document 5) Up. -The Monster does have a 'Let me in' or 'Crush with eyeliner' with Thurston, which 'Accelerate' (a respectable effort, I repeat) dreams of on Costa-Crociere... Question of taste. Cheers.

Have you ever heard of the Hitchcockian MacGuffin (about the protagonist's suitcase)? This is one of the films of the decade, damn. And I agree with post 3 by supersoul. I think I would also like to write a Coen-style review, but tough, tough, you know. Who knows... A review a bit like Giuliano Ferrara.

Today I listened to the amazing 'Third' by Portishead.. If 'Accelerate' is 5 stars, that one is 8 stars plated in gold.

I quote at the bottom of the Sacred Stone Rruock the post of Don N°30. For those who consider the acelerada mejor of the Monster, let's play the sticker game: would you trade 'What's the frequency Kenneth?' for 'Supernatural Superserious', 'Star 69' for 'Horse to water', 'Bang and blame' (cazzoooo!!) for 'Sing for the submarine', 'I don't sleep, I dream' with 'Accelerate', 'You' & 'I'm gonna dj'? No joking around. The only weakness (if we want to) of the Monster is 'Everybody hurts' in electric salsa, that is 'Strange currencies'. Saludos.
