we have very similar musical interests, but I, unlike you, have never written anything of this "genre." You, on the other hand, do it with great knowledge and expertise. Well done.

Thank you, proggen, very kind of you. In what sense does it sound strange to you that it derives from committed music? Does it sound too light to you?

But do you say it was so publicized back then? I obviously don't remember, but looking at the time it was released, I would say that at the time no one really cared about it anymore. I wonder how the U2 must have taken it back then after even the Simple Minds had tried to imitate them.

INXS Welcome to Wherever You Are

A beautiful piece that brings this now-forgotten album back into the limelight. INXS are part of those 80s bands - and there were many - that unfortunately, or fortunately, didn't manage to reinvent themselves later on. Here, they were trying when nobody was asking for anything more than a few good albums with old sounds for touring. Moreover, this album testifies to the enormous influence that U2 - and especially Eno - had on pop in the '90s. This is another fact that does not sit well with us today, for all the reasons we know regarding U2 (mostly valid). The fact is that in the '90s, they really legitimized a sound (along with Eno, I repeat), and that is certainly no small feat. Some may say it’s a crappy sound. I say it’s an instantly recognizable sound that has made many followers, as this album confirms (but I’m reminded of the intro of "I Feel You," Depeche Mode, 1993). Talking about pop cannot exclude discussions of the commercial and non-commercial influences that have occurred throughout different eras.

You're great for being the first, come on. Maybe the track bai track isn't exactly the best, but good job.
