Edoardo Bennato Pronti a Salpare

Anyway, I finally listened to the album multiple times. I confirm what I’ve said before, that TwiggyTrace is absolutely crazy. I reread his review of Le vie del rock sono infinite: well, to consider that crap and give it 2/5 clearly shows that our "friend" evaluates Edoardo's albums based on how much he dislikes him at any given moment. There are many things that make him ridiculous, but I’ll highlight one because it’s truly comical: he complained that the title track of the previous album (a piece I really like) is a pathetic boy-band song that should be thrown in the trash, and then he comes to say this album is gold compared to expectations, when that track, in my opinion, overshadows this album in one gulp (also, he claims to listen to a lot of rock, a genre where autobiographical songs are definitely not lacking, and then condemns a song in that style... bah!). I have a lot to say about this album; I will probably write my own review sooner or later. For now, I’ll just say that I find it a work devoid of content in the lyrics (tracks 2, 7, 9, 10, 14), predictable in the music (1, 9, 10, 11), predictable in the vocal lines (1, 11), with Edoardo sometimes sounding off-key and almost bored while singing (1). The fact that Edoardo decided to include the beautiful Zero in condotta and Povero amore in the setlist (the latter unfortunately quite butchered, also due to a drummer who should just polish Roby Pellati’s sticks) seems to me clear evidence that he himself realized it was desperately needed to raise the average quality of the album. In conclusion, for me, it’s the worst album of his career aside from Se son rose fioriranno. What a shame, because I absolutely didn’t expect this given the previous two albums and the concerts I attended in the past years, although I must say I saw him in pathetic conditions on TV at the Expo concert.

Ahahahaha TwiggyTrace you're crazy. A few years have passed but your brain remains in a fixed state!!! Have you moved or do you still live just a few meters away from Edoardo? Ahahaha, ridiculous!

The album is from '95, not '99. Indeed, Mare chiaro mare scuro is stunning, while the rest features a few good tracks and some that are less good.

Well, anyway... if this is a mediocre album and if James is voice-less...

The review is quite balanced, but I give it a 1 because there is no way to refer to the bare That was just your life, which is incredibly powerful. It simply doesn't hold up at all. And then also The end of the line is a good song, so judging the initial duo as the worst part of the album is truly ridiculous.

Well, you're a bit confusing: first of all, if I understood correctly, you consider ...And Justice for All mediocre... we're in a good place! Anyway, you deserve a 1 just for calling the black album "mediocre." Not to mention you claimed that Death Magnetic has metalcore and grunge influences (have you lost your mind?), that the instrumental is nu metal (were you drunk while listening to it?), and that you talked about the blues influences as if they were a chasm, as if metal didn't also owe its existence to this genre (ever heard the debut of Black Sabbath?). Let me give you some advice: find something better to do!

Beautiful and objective review. Just a few things I don’t agree with: the one about the black album (I’ve always loved it, just like its predecessors); the comparison with Painkiller is a bit bold, though I understand what you meant... I consider Death Magnetic just below the top 5 of the 4 Horsemen, but Painkiller is perhaps along with Master of Puppets the greatest masterpiece of metal; and I also don’t agree that 2008 was a flourishing year: two almost flops like Nostradamus and The Formation of Damnation from such great bands disappointed me quite a bit, anyway let’s see what the end of the year has in store for us!

Anatas, do you realize the nonsense you've spouted? You consider an album mediocre just because the drummer is mediocre? The absence of bass sound in the '80s productions? Have you ever listened to Master of Puppets? James isn't good enough? He has churned out an insane series of riffs, what the hell are you talking about! The Unforgiven III is pathetic? Now a song is bad just because it sounds more like the Load era than the '80s? Come on... and if The Formation of Damnation is a masterpiece of thrash, then I am the pope... please, give me a break... I love Testament, they're one of my favorite bands, but even Megadeth and Slayer have done better with their latest albums (even though they haven't done anything groundbreaking either! This Death Magnetic wipes them all away).

Records like this haven't come out for a while. It doesn't make the top 5 (oh well!), but it's just below that. And above all, for current standards (quite low) of metal, it's a masterpiece.
