Finally, after months of delay, I've seen the movie. I can officially say: it would be ridiculous to hear about prequels and sequels, and I found the ending in tune with the plot's course. It starts with the death of the protagonist's brother, then the one that the best friend likes gets bitten by the monster and bleeds out, the other one takes the helicopter and disappears (who knows, maybe she got saved? Who cares... even though she was a hottie) while the other three fall into Central Park and find themselves unscathed (this is actually a real stretch.. but let's overlook it..) then that idiot of a best friend wants to take on the monster that's on top of him, OF COURSE HE DIES! The two poor "lovers" have no hope, it was already known for quite some time about the bombing that NYCity would undergo! And so... the only thing I found "interesting" is that they died right there where the poor Sean, Nicole Kidman's husband in "Birth - Io sono Sean," died while doing his morning jog at -10 degrees in mid-winter :-D (The final scene left on the tape was so predictable; we had already seen it when the best friend tried to go back!!!). The entire opening scene was unbearable.

Just seen. Film: direction straight out of a B movie, the plot that WHO KNOWS WHY today nobody would pick up (exactly 20 years, what a nose for it); actors from C-list (I couldn't wait for the fight scene to end, for heaven's sake; damn, what muscles that blonde guy has, but really, he would have been smashed!). Review: TEN for enthusiasm and for grasping the meanings, ZERO because I'm fed up with lengthy narratives that recount the plot (WHICH SHOULD NEVER BE DONE BY DEFINITION). Here’s where my final ratings come from....

Taken from the same review: "It is essential to emphasize the film's strong point: the astonishing special effects."

@ S4doll: But excuse me, weren’t those special effects where the actor revealed their features in gray liquid metal and then turned solid? In fact, they only died at the end, falling into some kind of lava? Or maybe I’m remembering wrong; it’s been so many years!

A dedication to the president of the state of California: but VAFFANBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP! Look carefully on the internet, my Lega friends, in that state there seems to be an independence movement :-) I agree with the observation made about the performance of the bad Robert Patrick, who in my opinion overshadows even the good ones. Let's remember, though, the abuse of special effects....

Finally, the first review of this movie that I still haven't seen (and it doesn't seem to promise anything good!). Just writing so much for.....

I detest reviews THAT REVEAL THE PLOT IN FULL! The film represents the "less worse" of Italian adolescent cinema in recent years. Let's settle for it, alas (I would give it a 3.5 out of 10 but I’ll round it up to 4 just for the presence of Faletti). Anyway, soon I might come out with a nice review of a beautiful Italian film that deserves recognition and seems to be little known... as soon as I have time ;-)

On Boldi and De Sica: whoever keeps bringing you back to the cinema has BROKEN! But you have your money now anyway... This film, beyond "artistic values," is a beautiful memory of my childhood. We can’t really criticize Manfredi, Banfi, Villaggio, and Pozzetto, come come on!

I’m about 3/4 with "ilpazzo" regarding the undervalued value and message of the film. However, those were different times; today’s Adriano Celentano is another person, and I’m not here to label him.

"an atrocious disillusion": my Italian teacher would have certainly taken away a point from me (thankfully, I always put the apostrophes in the right place :-P) jokes aside, I find the review a bit pretentious, with all those quotes at the beginning and the ending "The fate of humanity in a coin worth a few cents." Otherwise, really beautiful insights and a truly great film, always to be watched in the original language. The sarcasm of the Coen brothers may return at any moment, I believe, but certainly "matured."
