The recording is perfect, that's fine, but the sound is rough, not perfectly clean (but for me, this is a strength). The 4 is purely my personal taste. It doesn’t drive me crazy, I like it a lot, but I only give a 5 in cases of particular appreciation. Yes, Jim Hall is much softer.
