Dear ZaNNa, when I have Pat in my hands, I do nothing but listen to him. Let me explain. I’m pleased to have conveyed the idea of forcing it, when, in reality, there’s an immense joy in progressively discovering the pleasure of listening to it. In essence: I wouldn’t listen to anything else because jazz, in my view, is to be broken down into very personal perceptions that, depending on the degree of assimilation, convey the hidden and not immediately decipherable value of this magical genre. I never trust the first listen. Nor the thirtieth. After a hundred times, I feel I can say: "yes, it has conveyed something to me."
