DaveJonGilmour, do you happen to own Time of Change by Trip? If so, what do you think? I'm listening to it right now and it sounds amazing.

Sorry for the intrusion: in America, more than prog, I would talk about Pomp Rock, closer to AOR and Metal than to progressive (see Kansas and Rush).

But WHO CARES, it's nice to be a virtual human case, what's important is not to be one in reality. DEATH TO PUNK
Le Orme Piccola Rapsodia Dell'Ape

After the masterpiece "Florian" and before the canned crap "Venerdì," here comes "La piccola rapsodia dell' Ape," an album that is slightly less effective than its predecessor, but still a great record. Beautiful songs like Il Treno, the title track, and Buonanotte, just to name a few, show us that Le Orme are still capable of delivering truly inspired masterpieces. Just as disco music and similar garbage were taking over the rest of the world, here comes a punch to the gut (in a good way) like this album: it seems to come from a different era, yet it's truly 1980. In 1982, Le Orme will hit us with another punch, this time in the eye and incredibly painful, but that's another story...

There was a lot of good music after '77 (Queen, Van Halen, Dire Straits,...). However, in '77, punk and disco music spread, which in just a few years brought the music world to ruins. Nowadays, there's hardly anything good left, is that true or not? I lash out against punk because it's nothing more than a hyper-commercial genre that only served to fatten the music market of the time. What did punk leave for posterity? Nothing, at best a few anarchic wrecking ball slogans that, as we well know, will never be achievable. That's why I hate punk, because it’s pumped up, praised, but in the end it’s a commercial gimmick like that of the Backstreet Boys, Blue, and all the various follow-ups. There are many genres I don’t like, such as metal, but I admire it because it's still music made with thought.
