Yes, you are both right, McCartney has never written an "Imagine" or a "Happy Xmas," but he is one of the few who can create POP without falling into the Britpop trap of Oasis, Blur, and others. Slim, Press to Play sucks, just like McCartney II does, but let's not forget that the latter features a song titled "Waterfalls"...

But no, it was just to explain how much Hodgson's absence weighed on Supertramp. It's a matter of taste, but I prefer McCartney's solo career to Lennon's. Lennon made good music until '73, but then he started to repeat himself, whereas McCartney has always maintained good levels; for example, in '76 he released a good album like "Venus and Mars." Not to mention that Sir McCartney in '77, right in the middle of the punk era, had the balls to sing Mull of Kintyre, a folk ballad that knocked all the punks around the world.

Mariaelena, I’ve listened to all the artists you mentioned: I don’t like Joy Division, I only like John Lennon at the beginning (from Mind Games onwards he started to break a bit), Eric Clapton (solo) and Police have never meant anything to me, they have always remained in ambiguity (always balanced between commercial and non-commercial), Supertramp is a great band, one of those that has never really had any falls or crises, they have always remained impervious to trends. Well, then in the '80s everything went to hell, I don’t even consider them Supertramp without Hodgson (it would be a bit like the Beatles without McCartney or Queen without Mercury), Soft Machine don’t even need a comment. You see that all the names you pulled out have somehow made music history. But La Crus, what do they do? They remain in total indifference. They ride the typical gimmicks of this time, nothing more. To become like the artists you mentioned, you need to man up.

3.5 for the review: you could have mentioned the parts of the songs that struck you the most, otherwise it gets lost in translation. The album doesn't even need comments: no fillers, just substance, a distillation of art that made history in Italian music, once glorious, today who knows...

The cover is truly beautiful. The album is at a good level, perhaps a bit too influenced by other artists of the time.

But it was just to poke fun at "Le donne lo sanno" by Ligabue. I didn't want to hurt you, you're still the most beautiful. Of course, Zappa really had a Minchia tanta.

I was referring to the albums with Roberto Roversi (Il giorno aveva 5 teste, Anidride solforosa, Automobili), they are very original works, almost progressive in structure. And I’m not denigrating Tenco, I’m just saying he hasn’t left the mark that others have. The Tenco award, however, allow me to say it, is rubbish; now it should only be given to Paolo Meneguzzi and Luca Dirisio and they’ve made everyone pass through. Hey, it’s dark times for music…

Hey Dave, have you heard? They base their rankings on lists made by critics-journalists who know a thing or two about music! Critics are just people who spend their time shoveling crap on the careers and efforts of others; very often, by giving negative judgments, they unwittingly become promoters of the artists they've denigrated (just like what happened with Uriah Heep, Queen, Jethro Tull...). It doesn’t matter if someone is a deep connoisseur of music; take Scaruffi for example: he knows almost everyone but then mercilessly criticizes them with ghastly reviews, only saving the usual ones that only he and a few of his friends know (of course, at home he listens to Deep Purple and Genesis, because you can’t endure listening to the rubbish he claims to prefer). Critics are not worth your time; they know as much about music as you do, so don’t listen to them, because they only give you their opinion (which is worth as much as yours). If the Pink Floyd don’t appear in their rankings (you can bet Nirvana and the Sex Pistols will be there in abundance), it’s not a disaster, because we all know very well that ā€œmateriallyā€ the Pink Floyd left a giant mark on the history of music that is hard to overshadow.
