One last thing: Today I bought Achtung Baby (the album that according to critics and the public should be the best for content, production, and sounds). I want to hope that it really is, because otherwise I’ll be even harsher (if possible) with the band and with everyone who thinks like you. If you believe that U2 is the best band in the world, that's your problem; I don't have the time or the desire to convince you otherwise.

The reason why Erotica didn’t sell like Immaculate Collection is simple: In the 80s, Ciccone played at being the mischievous girl (just like her great rival of that time, Cindy Lauper), and the media deemed her “harmless.” However, starting in the 90s, she began to create scandals (Sex, Body of Evidence, music videos that left little to the imagination). It soon became clear that Ciccone wasn’t “playing” but rather aimed to expose the sexual (and non-sexual) taboos that had until then not been “advertised” by music broadcasters. So, although it is true that this album was criticized harshly, it undoubtedly sold more than expected due to the curiosity that arose around this affair.
