Even Jim Carrey imitates Jerry Lewis! But he's better! Franco Franchi surpassed Totò in creativity and bizarre mimicry. Just because they admit that Totò was the master is another story. Enough with this untouchable Totò! Please!

Definitely different from my review. I don't agree on the second half of the album. Earth Song is one of the most successful songs of the century. Stunning intro, miraculous voice, melancholic chorus, simple yet nothing short of genius. D.S. has a great guitar interlude, sure... it’s not at his levels but it's still an aggressive piece. Maybe a bit too long. 2 Bad is anything but a mediocre song. Refined rhythm, almost perfect sounds, and as usual it sounds like something avant-garde. Little Susie is a small masterpiece. The Lennon cover is better than his. That's what it was all about. Smile, Chaplin's cover, is also better than the original. Amazing album!

My review didn't start with "Villaggio beats Totò 10 to 0," but I'm glad these discussions are happening. After all, they are two legends of Italian cinema. I reiterate: it’s not right for an artist's glories to be recognized only after their death. Today Villaggio is appreciated by critics, but not universally. Totò, yes! Do you think this happens because Totò is greater? I really don't think so. Just wait until Villaggio passes away, and you'll see what astonishing phrases will emerge in the newspapers. Totò was criticized during his lifetime for his films. I can tell you this because I've spoken to people from that era and read magazines from the time! "Buffonciello" was written in one of them! You can't criticize Villaggio because he’s always been Fantozzi. De Curtis was always Totò too! Enough! Poletti... I like your command of language... but... Fantozzi, up to the fourth episode, is liked more by adults than by young people! Neri Parenti started churning out Christmas comedies for kids, starting with "Fantozzi alla riscossa," where the cinema of Fantozzi took the path of youth trends (Fantozzi the metalhead, Fantozzi at school of delinquency, Fantozzi in the disco). I think if Totò were still alive... he would have churned out a string of nonsense! Just like what happened to Buster Keaton, who found himself with Franco and Ciccio! Regarding Franchi, yes... he was a genius! The choices of Franco and Ciccio were artistically disastrous, films worth next to nothing. But the fact remains that Franco Franchi, as a character, mime, comic, and character actor, had genius qualities that don’t envy Totò at all, and his neck bends I honestly find a bit annoying. The fact remains that when Villaggio is DEAD, he will be recognized on par with Totò! ON PAR! Not superior! I bet you a seafood dinner... paid for by my uncle!

Totò had exceptional miming skills! Villaggio on this is more limited (but it must be said that Villaggio's miming is still excellent! And it has entered the collective imagination on par with Totò's). I had a face more suited for a Mask, in short, he had his unique advantages, but... excuse me... it's just my personal opinion but... where the hell are all these laughs in his movies? Totò and Peppino are funny! The scene with the promissory notes made me laugh heartily, but... the cycling race in Fantozzi? The Olympics of Fantozzi? Are we kidding? This is slapstick from contemporary cinema; it's a comedy mechanism that goes beyond the actor's miming. Totò's films are just pleasant, and he is a legend for the type of "character" unique in its kind. But so is Villaggio! Unique in his own way... with the difference that his films are more "comic" and at the same time extremely tragic. But this is just my opinion... everyone prefers whom they want. But don't tell me that Villaggio is inferior to Totò... only to maybe say "He was on his level" after he passed away! Well... to me, Totò isn't funny whether alive or dead. I don't like to re-evaluate the deceased for business reasons.

AMEN! Finally a good review of this Kolossal! It was released in 1991 and already sounded like 2000! Today, pop artists still sample its sounds to create current things! (but no one succeeds!) Unbelievable! You said it right: the most underrated album of all time! Epic!

Masterpiece! Brilliant in its minimalism, in its simplicity, practically homemade with simple samplers. Moby is an artist! He doesn't have a true brand, a true genre; he is simply an artist! When he was a teenager, he produced Techno songs that set new records for execution speed, then ambient, chill out, rock, and finally... the blues, which brought him commercial success (he's a genius, but let's say it... a very clever genius!). In my opinion, the underrated "18" is an even more beautiful and poignant album. Great Moby!

What the hell are you talking about! First of all: Celentano is a great! The Pope, no! Saying that sermons aren't for him is like saying that women aren't for Rocco Siffredi! Celentano has created a "character" by being a showman; if we take away the eccentricity, the sermons, the mystical crises of omnipotence, and the pauses for silence from his character, he would have never achieved such success. Celentano gained fame and glory even by standing against the people who can't stand his sermons; it’s part of his ongoing show! Grillo is a different character; there's no comparison. The only one who has been annoying is Benigni! As Grillo would say, "he can go fuck himself and this fucking Divine Comedy!" Celentano exaggerates the talk about architects, but in his exaggeration... he’s right! Even if the real problem is concrete! This fucking concrete he’s been preaching about for 40 years! Our cities have become containers of death! Concrete concrete concrete! It’s a shame! Much better the houses made with horse shit in the Middle Ages! The footage he showed about Milan yesterday and today in the episode of Rockpolitik is Oscar-worthy! Then... when the curtain falls, Grillo and Celentano, the preachers, go back to their multi-billion-dollar villas! And that’s where people get pissed off! A preacher who, when the lights are off, is rich... pisses everyone off! Except for me!! They put on a show... and profit from it! I value the type of show they offer... not their private lives! That’s their business! Celentano is a unique character in the entertainment world. Unrepeatable! Irreplaceable! MEGALOMANIAC SINGER ACTOR DIRECTOR PRODUCER MESSIA: 10 out of 10!!!!! P.S.: I won’t buy the album.

When it comes to disco sampling and "sound tricks," Daft Punk are more about entertainment. But regarding stage design, sound power, psychedelia, the perfect fusion of images and sounds... and... excuse me... skill! The Chemical Brothers are the best! They have always stood out in live performances, and I can tell you that I didn't just make this up. They are two different genres... Daft Punk are playful (brilliant) while the Chemical Brothers are more "musicians" of electronic music. And I didn’t say that Daft Punk are terrible live. Reread the review. They are geniuses! But the Chemical Brothers... they are the Chemical Brothers! :-)

Rorix, it's been a long time since you wrote your comment, and to respond to you, I had to listen to Reign in Blood, well... you're right, I got my mind blown! But I didn't understand your comparison with the Chemical! What does thrash metal have to do with dance electronics? They're two different kinds of chaos. Slayer makes noise with analog instruments, the Chemical with artificial ones, and as much as Slayer can blow your eardrums... artificial sounds create that exaggerated, pumped-up, altered noise that is impossible to recreate in analog. Get a killer stereo system, listen to Reign in Blood, and you'll have hellish chaos, but then... listen to some tracks like "Come Inside" or "I Began in Afrika" by the Chemical and the speakers will explode along with your eardrums. Nonexistent comparison.
