I understood the meaning of that sentence; it's its content that leaves me in doubt.

Go Nagai Devilman - La Genesi

By the way, since it’s being mentioned: I’ve never understood the public’s great love for Sirene. Devilman becomes a great work especially when the author abandons the "superhero" aspect of volumes 2-3, and even in that part of the work, I find the figure of Jinmen much more striking among the "villains," with his insane, disturbing perversion (to me, he is one of the most impressive characters in illustrated narrative of all time).

A film is not made up of just the plot: a good review also (and above all) takes into account the "rest." Just to make a few examples related to the work being reviewed: the technical aspects; the cinematic rendition of a paper original; the characteristics of the Italian edition... as far as I'm concerned, references to the plot should only be made in relation to other features. || Alas, in Italy, it has become customary to say OAV instead of OVA, as the Japanese do (which echoes the Japanese name for AV porn videos). || I add a couple of notes to the list of paper works related to Devilman published in Italy. "Devillady" (17 volumes) has already been mentioned: it is quite controversial, with opinions ranging from "ridiculous" to "masterpiece!!!11!1!!!!" As a pure nagaiano, I can't give objective judgments. "Amon" (6 vols.) and the aforementioned "Strange Days" are created by Yu Kinutani (officially, both are works made by two hands, but it is evident that Nagai contributed only with his name or little more); insignificant like everything I’ve come across so far by Kinutani. There’s also "Devilman - Time Travellers," a single volume collection of short stories illustrated in the 80s by Nagai in which Akira and Ryo wander through time, finding themselves entangled in a series of historical events: a completely dispensable volume, entirely disconnected from the original (though a couple of stories are nice). || Essentially, apart from Devillady, the only truly valid spin-off from the original series is the collection Neo Devilman, which has yet to be published in Italy.

Rumiko Takahashi Maison Ikkoku
Voto:
Yes, Takahashi's long series, those originally published in Sunday (Urusei Yatsura, Ranma, Inuyasha, and, I can predict, the new Kyoukai no Rinne) tend to last 'too long'. It’s no coincidence that she generally does better with short stories. Her masterpiece is precisely this Maison Ikkoku, (which in Japan was collected in 15 volumes): a work that impressively captures what the Japanese are (or were?) really like, and in terms of plot development, character building, and narrative pace, it has no equals in Takahashi's oeuvre, thanks also to its avoidance of unnecessary length until the very end. The author, among other things, at the time also showcased her best style ever, still "warm", soft, and rounded but no longer raw as in her early works. I've never understood why she never attempted to publish something similar again (perhaps One Pound Gospel? but it's too different), what a pity...

Yes, but it seems like the usual crap they've been pushing for a few years now... like when I heard "those treasures will never befall you," I was embarrassed for them.

Well, the review is nice, well-written, but the album seems to me to be of a deadly flatness (the concept can be interesting and well-executed, but since it's a music album... well... you know).
