@Lux: I’ve read it and, as promised, I won’t reply but I just want to reaffirm that you are completely free (as already mentioned elsewhere) to think whatever you want about anything I’ve said. I consider myself free to do the same with yours. Regards.

On Myspace there are only the samples, of all the songs, for heaven's sake, but still, it's a bit little ;-) Anyway, it wasn't a criticism, don't worry, just an observation that every time on DeB they steal my first review :-D. I have to go to work so I don't have time to reply to all your latest posts; I'll do it tomorrow. Bye!

PS. At this point, it seems obvious to me to tell you that when I talk about "Statistics," I have a certain expertise. If you don't want to believe it, feel free: I'm certainly not going to worry about it. Riciao.

See Lux, I don’t want to make anyone look bad, but if you come to "mess with me" by asking a question whose answer wouldn’t prove whether I "know or don’t know" (the kind where I could easily check the statistics volumes I used during my school experiences and copy, suitably modifying it, some definition), but would just give you the opportunity to insist on something quite unfounded and annoying, namely accusing me (and this is the second time you’ve done it in just a few days, and without me directly calling you out: if you could kindly point out where I did that this time...) of talking about things I don’t understand, the point is that I don’t need to prove anything to you (the thing about improving my position shows your level of maturity) and so I responded appropriately: I thought the first response would suffice, but evidently you’re also a masochist and wanted to insist on the sad tune, so I replied again, as you deserved. If this bothers you (and now you’re playing the offended one again, a tactic you assume when you know you’ve overstepped… and this isn't the first time), you shouldn’t have started it all ("messing with me," as Brother Bartle says, precisely because if you do it, I understand it perfectly).
That said, obviously the discourse about you not knowing what you’re talking about was just a provocation (but I see that even here you’re not mature enough to understand it), and I could also modify its meaning: let’s say that when you talk about Maiden (but also about some other group that I won't mention here), you don’t know what you’re talking about because you’re ignorant in this matter (that is, you ignore). Happy? I don’t think you’ll be bothered if I won’t respond further, honestly I’m a bit too old to play "kindergarten grudges." Bye.

I almost forgot: preemptively trashing Amos (and unfortunately also for many fans: see the Italian forum) has now become a common sport. What pleases me, however, is that over time (excluding the cover album) her recent records "improve" like fine wine (thanks to her abilities as a performer and arranger), and this is not just my opinion (which may not be very reliable since I'm a devoted and true EWF fan) but the opinion of almost everyone (and there are many: both admirers and non-admirers of the Red) I know (in the real world).

One of the highest moments of "fantastic" storytelling ever. Exemplary review.

@Alia: you know, many times all I need is to hear some real existential torment ;-) I don't know, in this little disk I feel that restlessness so intensely that it's impossible not to share in it: I've always been sensitive to the ladies at the piano who complain. I remember a few years ago when I had guests at home and I was "playing" "Soviet Kitsch" by Spektor. I was in the kitchen preparing the aperitif, and one of my guests came to me saying, "Look, there's a girl in the living room who's suffering and complaining." I only understood when I took the snacks and the spritz over there... ;-)

I don't agree with reviewing something that hasn't been released yet, but I can't give my artistic impression since, due to my personal beliefs, I listen to Tori's albums only from the date she decides to share them with the world. However, I can say one thing about general evaluations: I will never tire of reiterating that asking her, at 46 years old in 2009, to behave (artistically and as many of her contemporaries do) like the girl she was in the '90s is quite futile: she has grown and aged, and the "problems" and uncertainties she had back then have changed (and therefore her inspirations have changed as well) or no longer exist, so seeking that Tori is not worth it; instead, we should appreciate her undeniable qualities (in writing and interpretation) that continue to carry her forward. It's not true that she no longer questions herself: I can't speak on this, but the three albums (not counting the covers one) she made in the "00s" are completely different from one another, both in mood and influence. This shows, if nothing else, that while the "malady of living" that led her to write tortured gems like "Boys for Pele" has left her, she still invests a lot, at least, in presenting technically high-level work. The three singles she has chosen to preview "to the world" still demonstrate an arranging ability (which has always been her strong suit) at levels decidedly above the average of many other musicians in recent years. I agree that her peak was in the last decade, but every time I listen to one of her albums, I can still feel that aura of "gift" and love that she pours out (not to mention the fact that it's an excuse to see her live again, where her "desire" hasn't faded at all, both in quality and quantity: she has already announced more than 30 dates, and almost the entire European tour is still to be defined, along with the extra-American one). Bye.
