@Taurus: no, it's not the first. @Drunked: in fact, I argued that he doesn't just live off of those (the part about the concert steps was one of the arguments, but there were others). As for how many times he goes to the bathroom, I couldn't tell you; I just think you shouldn't "freak out" over a post like this, I can do worse ;-)

Well, she would have millions of ways to live off the glory of her homeland without lifting a finger if that were the case, but in the end, she's still active. Besides this year's album, she's writing music for a musical that will probably come out next year, not to mention the tour of almost 50 dates in three months across two continents (and the Japanese dates are still to come). We're talking about someone who has more than a thousand concerts behind her, when she could easily just relax and live off the royalties from just "Cornflake Girl": clearly, there are other motivations beyond her career, and she probably believes in what she’s doing. As I’ve already said, we must give her credit for being coherent despite all the criticism that rains down on her: it must be said that, amidst a (which is physiological anyway, and not that dramatic, despite what many imprudently write, given that aside from 4-5 musical legends, everyone is selling fewer records, in any format we’re talking about) decline in album sales, her shows almost always sell out (and we know well that the real earnings for a musician now come from live performances). So, one can say that the strategy of releasing an all-encompassing and "fluid" album every two years (which, in my opinion, are all dignified) accompanied by a related tour (alternating four-year cycles between solo and band tours: in this case, it should be solo) is, overall, effective. Each night, the setlist changes (so it can easily happen that you see two, three, or sometimes even four concerts with almost the certainty of not hearing the same song played twice), and performances are always at least two hours long (often even more). Perhaps in some time, even the most skeptical will realize this, or maybe not: “knowing her” a little, I believe she cares very little about what happens around her (I’ve never heard her mention any critical reviews) and continues on her path anyway. Then, a personal observation from someone who has seen her perform a lot (the first time in '92): the emotional intensity and even the artistic-technical quality of her concerts has not diminished at all; if anything, it has increased the choice in deciding the setlist (and it can happen at a particular concert that she doesn’t play any of her "classics"). She doesn’t give the impression of being someone who’s just getting by; quite the opposite. Thank you for stopping by. Bye.

@Psychopatha: I found the bonus track on the iTunes version and it will also be on the Deluxe one, it’s called "Oscar's Theme." @Zzot: why wait for another life? ;-) @Alia: comparing the current state of female singer-songwriters, can you think of anyone recent comparable to the names you mentioned? @Alex: maybe too much gloss, to tell the truth. @Terry: always so sweet, thank you!

However, I disagree on this matter: I’m not saying at all that it’s a useless album; I’m just saying I would like it to return to the style of a few years ago (even that of "Scarlet's Walk," for instance). It’s obvious that if I have to be objective, the album doesn’t excite me, but it is still above average for the current genre: there are indeed valid tracks (those I mention, for example) and I certainly wouldn’t discard them (and I don’t think they will be forgotten either). It’s clear that the overall judgment must take his career into account, so there is some disappointment, and it can't be overlooked, but on the point about "flatness," I absolutely disagree. ;-)

One of my favorites by Leigh: a review that gets straight to the point. Excellent.

@Giustiziere: well, the judgment isn't exactly the same, anyway it was thought to be a nice thing to place two opinions side by side in a straightforward and easy-to-consult way (and save a bit of space in the DeDataBase). That's all.

Look at the work you should do; the joke would be too easy for me, but since the review is not just mine, I don't want to trigger anything. I simply reiterate the phrase in parentheses from the first sentence of post 3. Aloha|
