Mel Gibson The Passion

You are comparing two things, two films, and two completely different purposes. "The Passion" is a cathartic journey by the admission of the author himself; Pasolini had a different concept, more artistic and less "personal." I absolutely disagree even regarding "Apocalypto"; the Maya (not the Incas) are not depicted as crude; on the contrary, their astronomical knowledge is highlighted. For example, Gibson's work is a simple reflection on how, when a society fails to look within and is a victim of a metaphysical concept that is absolutely confined to its own habits of life and spirituality, it often falls prey to external influences (and often even more barbaric ones).

No, dear Hetzer, it's not a scam. Unfortunately, I am of a certain age (decrepit) and I witnessed the birth of the Italian indie wave of the 90s, and I assure you that they were absolutely self-sustaining. In the long run, it became a problem because it led to that self-satisfaction that stifled creative drive. The Verdena are part of the last breath of this system... MTV arrived much later, at least in Italy, compared to the indies... Now, in 2007, to survive, some groups had to compromise with TV and certain commercial radio stations, but back then it was different... ,-) Bye!

Let me preface by saying that I don't like Verdena at all and I find that they have two or three valid songs in their repertoire, while the rest is just pure citationism (often done poorly). That said, I don't understand the intense hatred towards an Italian band that comes from semi-independent circuits and has to work hard to gain some visibility. I think it's unfair to mistreat them like this; I would like (dear Dave, you know I respect you, but I'm also talking to you ;-) ) to see your aggression (metaphorical) directed towards the real frauds in our music system. Here, I only see three guys playing music; I don’t like them, but I can understand that some might like them. There are far worse things to hate in our nation...

Thanks everyone for the comments! @Dearest Bubi: it's a cartoon and I wanted to keep its spirit; I'm glad you liked it and I'm convinced that you are still a bit of a teenager ;-), @Editors: I had included the original title from when it was released "Le 12 Fatiche di Asterix", I know I sent you the cover of the reissue (I couldn't find any others) but is it possible to keep the original, which is cuter, if it's not too much trouble? thank youuuu!

Ah, to clarify and without polemics with the good Poletti, in my opinion, it is not a Hollywood product in every sense. Gibson (who, in my opinion, has been a great actor, but that's a matter of taste) had to work quite hard in search of funding, so much so that he "reduced" himself to coming here to Italy (and the production imposed Italian locations and many Italian actors). Then, all films have a commercial purpose, but here, personally, I see more of an act of faith. As for the artistic outcome, I can understand that there are differing opinions because it does not aim to be the classic reassuring pedagogical film, but rather a more unfiltered and uncompromising cathartic search (my personal opinion, of course).
