I still vividly remember the covers of "Cioè" that my sister and cousins read) both within and outside the group. It’s also worth noting that it is unfair to associate them with the Hair Metal phenomenon, as their success effectively pushed the true protagonists of that scene (Crue, Poison, etc.) into obscurity for at least a decade and ended up signaling, if not its death, at least a deep coma. Supersoul is probably right, as well as those who support him, in saying that, at least when talking about them, to fully understand their importance and flaws (because they were rife with them), one must have lived through those years directly. It’s simply unavoidable to discuss GnR without considering the cultural phenomenon they represented (for better or worse, obviously).
