At least that one starts from a nice idea (even if it falls apart after halfway through the book) and isn't completely youthful. Then, in terms of writing, Giordano may not be Proust, but compared to Brizzi, I think there’s no contest (in favor of the former).

Yes, Bastogne is the one after, then he lost his inspiration (if he ever had it) and wrote a couple of "travel" books: "Nessuno lo saprà" is the first one that comes to mind. On the other hand, he had very little to say right from the start. One of the cases of overrated "generational" Italian writers, another one that comes to mind is Culicchia, but at least "Tutti giù per terra" is so paradoxical in its negativity that it ends up being amusing...

Saying that the lyrics of TDS are terrible is highly debatable, but I think it's just a matter of personal sensitivity. However, if someone (Alexander in this case) tells me that "God is dead and no one cares?" whether they are an idiot or worse, trashing Closer, it means that it’s not about having read the lyrics or not, but rather that they simply haven't understood the context from which they come, and that can happen. They could just admit it. And besides (not that comparing them is right), with all the goodwill I can have towards them, it’s not that Depeche Mode are free from lyrics that, in order to be understood, require consideration of the context...

I thank all the visitors! Briefly on the questions raised: @Bob: thank you, I included the conclusion just to give the idea of my "defeat" ;-) @Lewis: if you only knew the little tapes (homemade) from those years that I still listen to... @Pablo: don't worry, I didn't take it as a reprimand ;-) I agree about changing, but you must agree that diving into old flavors every now and then is invigorating! @Macaco: yes, it's an adolescent-young adult issue for which anyone feels nostalgia for the decade when they were 20, but each has a different dominant theme: the '90s, in my opinion, is about "pain as existential end", I wanted to convey this in my little writing (but from your comment, I think you understood it!) @Sid: it's a beautiful show, you’ll see. @Fusillo: I was indecisive until the last moment whether to call you, but then, due to work, I organized everything in a tight timeframe. Forgive me...
