Well, taking the "visions" of someone who probably never even saw Christ (if he ever was a historically existing figure) as absolute truths seems much more than an act of faith... The world (as we understand it) will eventually end anyway for two reasons: first, because it is in the nature of things (human), and second, because sooner or later we all kick the bucket, so ultimately everything ends at some point; regarding knowing when, I'd rather not know! Accept Jesus? It's not a matter of accepting him or not... it is imposed on us anyway in this Nation. And if it weren't this way, you would always want to have the final say on everything: life, sex, death (and miracles...) reducing something important (philosophically) like the concept of "God" to a series of intrusions into the private sphere (and dignity) of human beings. Then the story of the son on the cross took about 300 years (or more) to be dogmatized... doesn’t that raise some doubts? "HERE GOD DELAYS THE END OF THE WORLD, SO THAT WE MEN CAN SAVE OURSELVES."
