no no puglia is surprised by the fact that I haven't praised them as much as the glossy magazines (RS) have, and I would add, even the less glossy ones (Rumore). They didn't seem overwhelming to me in person, and I certainly wouldn't entrust the future of Italian indie to them, but I didn't buy their CD, which I did for other concerts (gdm...) however, I'm ready to change my mind... maybe in light of a review! As for the differences between college and indie, I would pass over that...

I don't know what to say, they simply seemed uninteresting to me; for the first time, a band trying to revive past sounds really sounded "old," good luck to the Interpol who recommend them. And forget about a second drummer; they were half of a thousand well hidden on stage by the smoke! Anyway, the keyboardist is a lovely person; before the show started, she was at the merchandise booth (by the way, the shirts with the various album covers were really nice), and a little note fell near my friend, and she picked it up for her (before I could, what a disaster...).

I tried to see them live in Milan; I only knew "Shake Your Dope Out," which was pleasant but nothing more... however, they had the Sleepy Jackson as support, which I was really interested in... well, I got so bored that I ended up leaving, and it’s really rare for my curiosity not to get the better of me! I don’t know if the album is better; I’ve seen it in numerous “playlists from 2003” (ex. Fabio De Luca: eustonstation: November 2003 but based on the 20 minutes of the concert I saw, I wouldn't bet on it...

for giov: on their official website, there’s a very well-made section with video clips including live ones:
I Am Kloot » Page not found
on the first album, they sound more acoustic, but that seems like a rather limiting label, even for others from NAM like Turin Brakes...

Come on, dude, don’t be like that... I hope you didn’t have too many indigestions during the holidays! That MTV - Marco and Giorgia - is more television than music, you have to consider it like that! BTW, since everyone on de-baser is speaking highly of it, I ended up buying it... I like it, but maybe it's a bit too homogeneous for my tastes, it can't reach hypnotic levels like 100th Window by MA - to stay on topic - but it loses quite a bit without DJ Shadow's impossible beats... still, it deserves a spot on the end-of-year playlist!

It seems that the Italian indie scene is constantly growing... I’ve discovered more interesting listens through word of mouth and by going to live festivals: just this year Perturbazione, Giardini di Mirò, Yuppie Flu, Ultraviolet Makes Me Sick. I missed One Dimensional Man at Tora Tora, but I’ve heard great things about them. I’ll add Milaus to the list, even though the website hasn’t listed any upcoming concert dates yet.

When it came out, I was really struck by the single Musik Non Stop, also because of the many eighties references, but from the titles on the CD I thought the rest of the album was in Swedish... or is it available in two versions?

both albums are good, the first sounds fresher, the second is definitely better produced and more focused, but to truly appreciate them I think it’s best to see them live in concert… I discovered them in Urbino at Frequenze Disturbate and they are now the only band I’ve seen twice in 2003 (well, apart from the usual Carmen Consoli :D)

I've postponed listening again, but sooner or later I have to think about it... this album won the Mercury Prize in 2003, but it seems especially that it has captivated anyone with a blog (see link rotto I see quotes from the lyrics of Amie everywhere, and it seems that at the concert in Milan at the Rainbow, there were quite a few Italian music fans looking for a touch of indie virginity... it reminded me of the Radiohead concert for The Bends where I saw Grignani, and shortly thereafter he released an album with a song that copied the arrangement of Just exactly.

great puglia, beautiful and "rich" review as always... at this point I'm quite curious to hear these rock inserts in CapaRezza's songs that are being mentioned, especially since they’re not present in the tracks currently in rotation... instead, I really enjoyed the brass march and the madness of the lyrics in fuori dal tunnel del divertimento, that is when idiocy dangerously approaches genius!
