Galliano The Plot Thickens

big cleo, look at what you bring out in me, you’ve made me want to clean the house! and here I was picturing you all dark-new wave-frippibyrnibowisylvi :D the galliano are simply wonderful, period. they’re also quite indefinable as a band; during their career, completely immersed in the explosion of acid jazz, the entire crew of Talkin' Loud, Gilles Peterson's record label, which was one of the main engines of the genre, took turns. however, I associate them more with London holidays and metropolitan vibes, with ā€œPrince of Peaceā€ as the background... the last time I saw Valerie Etienne was as a backing vocalist at a Jamiroquai concert, and now the frontman goes by Earl Zinger, and in addition to making wildly entertaining records (his), he was featured in a track from the lovely Oi Va Voi album, ā€œGipsy.ā€
Duran Duran Astronaut

malefic barry spreading false news, this record was downloaded and then deleted after a bothersome listen and you know it... and to think that Arena was one of the first 33 RPM records I ever bought! I really like the review though, it reads like a pleasure, well done south, I swear that if Duran play at Iacovone we are going to see them :D

Well done, Enryka, a nice album made of simple songs but performed with passion, even though I relate it more to the Coldplay-Travis period as peers, rather than the Oasis-Blur "alternative" (nani please correct the typo Blue!). And as Nick says, James Walsh's voice is really beautiful, it's a shame that in the second album they lost a bit of freshness and Spector could have enjoyed a nice retirement instead of getting his hands on their songs! Who knows how it will go with the Keane who seem to be starting in exactly the same way...

Good job Puglia, great complete and attentive review, but you know my tastes... just think that on the first listen I couldn't even find interest in the Consoli's song, which seemed to me like a real discard... and I've said it all! :D

Peter Gabriel Peter Gabriel IV

I agree, Hal, it should not be forgotten that Gabriel is a person who has experimented a lot with visual languages in his music videos, just like Björk... perhaps we have found an answer to K's question?

Well, considering that I've seen two concerts in quick succession and after managing to exchange a couple of words with Caralee, I was already ready to join them for all the remaining dates of the Italian tour and I was also looking into the European leg... I don’t know if I’ll have the energy to dust off everything for a review, anyway, they are the last group (?) I discovered that really struck a chord with me... for now, these were my immediate thoughts: magomarcelo's weblog: OH! Caralee
