Mastodon Crack The Skye
Voto:
In my opinion, the most overwhelming album by Mastodon is "Leviathan." "Blood Mountain" is a lethal record, but it’s too technical, convoluted, and perhaps a bit soulless for my tastes. On the other hand, "Crack the Skye" has fascinated me from the very beginning… there are many psychedelic openings… it’s a beautiful journey; I particularly enjoyed the '70s sound that the band members have reconstructed with vintage guitars and amplifiers. The fact that it’s a veeeery homogeneous album, all in the same tone, is a double-edged sword: after a certain number of listens, it actually becomes tiring and you stop playing it! Fortunately, the album’s length isn’t excessive, but I would have appreciated a bit more color; it would have been perfect.

Haha, the jokes weren't bad at all! ... I'm really sorry for the reviewer, but this place is frequented by a bit of a prankster crowd; they should have seen it coming.

Pain Of Salvation BE
Voto:
I would have liked to write a review of this album, but I've always felt a sort of respect and fear in doing so; this album is extremely complex in its themes and (let me say it) also pretentious. The talent of Pain of Salvation is undeniable, and this album is a clear example of that... the problem is its excessive heterogeneity and perhaps even its extreme conciseness (such a "universal" theme couldn't be exhausted even in 3 whole CDs of music); for this reason, "BE" sometimes leaves me with a bitter taste in my mouth and at other times instead excites me.

Absolutely exceptional band with a great style! It definitely must not go unnoticed.

The review is overly brief; the album is definitely beautiful, and the band, I can’t say otherwise, is among the best in post-rock/instrumental out there.
Pain Of Salvation The Perfect Element Part I

Great album, but listening to it all at once is a torture... among other things, it’s very poorly recorded. However, Daniel is an exceptional singer and gives the whole work a touch of great class. I'm eagerly anticipating their next project, which should be announced soon.

Disappointing album with few interesting insights... what else is there to say?

Very interesting work, perhaps a bit pretentious and uneven, but containing some truly beautiful passages.
