Lethe ... we are on the same wavelength ... but I don't want to make it a matter of virtuosity ... there are composers who are terrible as performers and yet create beautiful music ... the drone doesn't excite me conceptually and that's it, just like black metal and the like ...

The review is beautiful! ... I just wanted to say that if more and more people are finding their pleasure in musical genres like this, it is due to the "strong crisis of values" in our time ... it wouldn't be so if this music involved only a small group of people (who find meaning in such music) ... it's evident that the current crisis of values causes disorientation and produces an extremization of cultural tastes.
Every musical genre has the right to exist, but it's clear that in every cultural form there is a "sense of existence," and the meaning of this music is very negative. We are faced with the collective sensation of nihilism or cosmic pessimism ... a basking in dark fantasy to exorcise the fear of existing and living ... what sense would it make to glorify Satan, death, and blood otherwise?
My discourse is completely generic.
Those who love the thousand facets of life (the positive ones, but also the extremely negative ones) prefer to indulge in more interesting and original musical genres ... fluttering from "flower to flower" in search of new destinations and not mentally and physically destroying the "polychromy" of life .... too poetic?

Pretty or not... the fact remains that it's a shitty genre!

I don't like them... they are clones of themselves... they might as well stop releasing more albums... they are now the past, they have no future... better to bask in their glories than to continue and become an irrelevant band in today's music scene...

What do you care if there are 10 or 100 reviews about this album? ... don’t get hung up on those who start saying “what a drag, again....!!” ... everyone has the right to express their opinion, to lay out their point of view ... this site is made for that, and there are the site administrators who decide, and ... if they decide to publish 100 reviews of the same album, it means that’s how it should be!!! ... you could have written a nice review, but instead, out of fear, you held back ... whatever...

I consider them one of the most brilliant bands ever to exist on Earth! ... "Going for the One" isn't such an interesting album, their greatest masterpieces are others, but still, as you rightly say, we are still in their "golden period" ... another overlooked album, but which I find very interesting and featuring "new sounds," is "TORMATO," which should be rediscovered and reassessed.

Logic Probe: I agree with some of the things you’re saying... have you listened to this EP??? No, because maybe you missed (as others did) that I’m not talking about FEAR OF A BLANK PLANET, but about NIL RECURRING which has much, much stronger Prog Metal characteristics... without actually BEING PROG METAL! Anyway, you said something right: this album is closer to Signify than to In Absentia.

Perfect what you say! .. I don't agree that they won't be understood ... on the contrary ... the problem is rightly just the lack of visibility ... I discovered them by chance while browsing the internet among "specialized sites" ... it's not music for everyone, and I hope they don't fall into the abyss of "marketability" like so many do! .... these guys have the guts! ... you can feel that they understand music! ... you can sense the art ... unfortunately this album loses a bit of momentum towards the end, which is why 4 stars instead of 5.
