Current 93 The Great In The Small
Voto:
Break it down, dear, no one can know how much the Currents have published, probably not even Tibet himself... As far as I know, at least double what is reviewed here (even if my brief Debaser-esque reconstruction aims to capture the essential features of their discography); Untitled may be an epic undertaking, but I just can’t handle this record.... Sure, just putting something like this together shows great skill, but aside from the "rational" side of the operation, it remains an impossible listen... Who knows, maybe time will change my mind, perhaps I’ll take this album to the infamous desert island (along with Joyce's Ulysses) to pass the time; Untitled 2: is another Current album coming out next week? Oh my, then I might as well just give Tibet my IBAN for him to automatically deduct 20 euros a month and send me the releases by mail; Ale, I’ve never listened to The Seahorse Rears to Oblivion attentively (the piece itself doesn’t blow my mind), but now that you mention it, maybe it really is the same song repeated three times... Who knows, I thought I had a shabby pirated bootleg concocted by some joker to con idiots like me.... when instead the real pirate was Tibet....

Current 93 The Starres Are Marching Sadly Home

zzot: of current recommendation blood dogs rising (dark-industrial phase), thunder perfect mind and of ruine of some blazing starre (folk phase), soft black stars (singer-songwriter phase), but also black ships ate the sky can be a nice way to get to know them... nico63: unfortunately I don't know the project you’re talking about, but if you want, check out my review of the live show by nurse with wound with larsen as support... maybe you'll find something similar to erroneous... bye bye

saw them yesterday at FLOG in Florence (more or less the same setlist) and I have to say that I wasn't thrilled....the not-so-good acoustics of the venue didn't help (muddy sounds, Clementi's words not always distinguishable), but the real issue was the abysmal difference between the tracks from Cattive Abitudini and the classics of the past....the encore band was frankly another (Primo Dio and Stagioni were the highlights in my opinion)....I don't know, maybe we should ask ourselves if the live dimension is ideal for a band (with all due respect) whose strength lies in the sonic preciousness of the soundscapes and Clementi's words....their music demands too much attention, which live preserves the intensity especially in the pieces with a strong impact....in short, boring in the first part, good in the second, but overall it seemed to me that they didn't really believe in it that much either, I think they'll be splitting up soon....maybe it would have been better to catch them on the reunion tour focusing on the classics....

Hi, undoubtedly Larsen is an inferior character in the landscape compared to the illustrious names. I'll take this opportunity to make two corrections to the review. The album is from 2005 and not 2006 as stated (but I don't think this will change anyone's life). I realized it upon rereading, my mistake. Furthermore, there is a Celtic cross on the cover, not a runic symbol... even though there are runic inscriptions in Celtic crosses, I apologize for the imperfection, but I needed an introduction and didn't want to spark psychological controversies, firstly because it's not worth spending many more words on an artist like Larsen, and secondly because it wouldn't make much sense, given that Larsen's lyrics mainly focus on themes derived from Norse mythologies, and a viewpoint centered on ideology in this context would be misleading. Also, Evola is my observation, but I'm not sure that Larsen refers to him (as it happens explicitly in other bands like Sol Invictus and Ain Soph). Bye.

The fact is that after the black album, Metallica broke up, then the record label gave them so much money to keep going that in the end they did continue: so, faced with the choice of truly doing whatever the hell they wanted, our guys may have indulged certain unconfessable urges of theirs, for God's sake even with sincerity at times, but really with the spirit of someone saying "we're alcoholics, we no longer know what the hell to do, they're forcing us to do this, so we do it," with the freedom of those who have nothing left to lose but only to gain. Re-evaluating Load over the years is a bit like aging and understanding everything... sure, we're knee-deep in shit, but I refuse to reconsider an album that from an emotional standpoint can only be a 1 for a lifetime... and, in light of the subsequent mess, we can't, however, negatively reassess the first albums that are a solid 5 up to Justice (the black album being a 3).
Paul Chain Master Of All Times

Oh my God, I haven't listened to them all... if you have to start somewhere, begin with "alkahest," a fundamental album for the classic post-Sabbath doom-metal scene (Lee Dorrian from Cathedral sings on it, just to give you an idea)... if you want to trace its history roughly, as an appetizer I would listen to "the history of death ss" (77-84), almost unlistenable due to the nonexistent production, but certainly intriguing (horrific heavy metal)... still on the metal side, you can't miss the first full-length with Violet Theatre, "in the darkness"... regarding the solo career, I would like to highlight "the violet art of improvisation," which, although raw, showcases both the heavy and progressive sides (it’s a double album) and "life and death" from '89, another masterpiece of the heavy-doom phase, done with more awareness... the further you go, the more our artist will delve into experimental projects, all very valid... in short, Catena has never disappointed, so when you find one, feel free to pick at random, it's a safe bet...

Damn, I learned more from this review than from 7 annual subscriptions to blow-up... but in all this, how do you see an artist like AGF (the wife of delay)? Like shit for fashion shows?
Blaze Bayley The Man Who Would Not Die
Voto:
By the way, it seems that his wife has also died recently....in any case, I think his entry into Maiden was a well-thought-out commercial strategy...at the beginning of the nineties, they were really in crisis (metal was changing too)...so they chose such a different singer to attempt the shock effect, only to then leverage Dickinson's planned return, which had been in the works from the beginning: profitable for relaunching the band in a supposed rebirth/second life with the classic lineup (waiting for Dickinson to regenerate as a solo artist and be less of a pain in the ass)...and in fact, it worked, because the albums with Dickinson aren't really that much better than those with Blaze...but sales for Magilla have doubled!

"Guys, buy, borrow, steal, kill..." and indeed you remind me that I actually tried to steal this CD for real... I was at a friend's house for our occasional (although sporadic) music discussion afternoons and he played me this CD, which literally captivated me (especially the first track)... and an irrepressible desire to own it (the CD, not the friend) took hold of me... after all, he was a scatterbrained guy, he had all his CDs mixed up; if I had stolen it, he would never have noticed... so I borrowed it instead... I kept it for a week, feeling like the rightful owner, hoping he would forget to ask for it back... but then I felt too guilty and returned it... who knows where that CD is now, surely forgotten somewhere gathering dust... better at my place, I think... the fact is, I never found it again, but I think I still have the recorded cassette somewhere... phenomenal album, even if I can only see it as a classic now... honestly, it seemed original to me, but nothing groundbreaking... classic or not, it really remains something unique and (I repeat) phenomenal, different even from the very same Nevermore... what nostalgia it brought back, now Dane is gone... there remains a great voice, but Nevermore has 2 or 3 albums that don't convince (I don't know, I lost interest after Dead Heart in a Dead World...)... if I find it again, this time I won’t hesitate to kill... necessary and excellent (as always) the review.
