not memorable at all, instead, was Björk's appearance in Medulla... there, Wyatt couldn't turn shit into gold...

I apologize, I must have confused myself; with these Roman numerals, I don't understand a thing...

moon in june is probably the greatest piece of rock ever, unmatchable by anything else, but setting aside pointless rankings, wyatt remains an artist out of time and world, and it’s no coincidence (it seems to me) that in IV the soft machine replaced him with two drummers, one for each side, given that it was impossible to combine with equal technical perfection, feeling, and versatility, intricate rhythms and a sense for music. It’s incredible how that man personalizes anything he touches, whether it’s bold avant-garde (never self-serving) or melodic moments (always striking, even if simple). And if rock bottom remains among my top 3 albums of all time, I must say I've never had the guts to approach wyatt's 90s work, for fear of encountering dull and plasticky (especially sound-wise) rehashes of an unmatched past... but since the excellent shark guarantees that the sounds are in no way nineties (confirmed???), I’ll rush to fill this unforgivable gap...

and the anger rises... I didn’t get the tip from debaser and the next day I find out from a friend that I missed them about forty km from home, and on top of that it coincided with a useless Monday evening spent doing something pointless... damned faust!

ah Nick, they roll around, but those literary wannabes don’t know a thing about war... that’s precisely why the fascist-antifascist dichotomy makes no sense today. I don’t understand the outrage in the face of these antics when the world’s problem (which, I remind you, is set to collapse in a few decades) is the ignorance and indifference of all those who, day after day, believing themselves to be free, strengthen and support a far more dangerous totalitarianism, one that is subtle, silent, and essentially internalized, which doesn’t need orators or slogans.

Oh Nick, of course they are fascists, and the worst kind, it seems to me (I repeat, I don't know them), the review seems clear from this point of view... they are certainly not friendly... but I didn't think it was the central issue, at least I didn't want to make any apologia (those who have read my reviews or comments know my deep contempt for war and for right-wing ideologies)... what bothers me is the superficiality, the preconceived judgments and the absolute sentences from those who have never listened to certain groups/genders... it's the talking without knowledge of the facts, the shouting or simply provoking that honestly makes me lose my patience... first understand, then judge, and preferably argue... but above all, before criticizing the supporters of totalitarianism, let’s learn the ABC of democracy, please...

But why do we always have to fall into clichés? I listened to black metal until around '97 (in my opinion, Nattens Madrigal by Ulver is a bit of the last masterpiece of classic black), today I listen to everything, from prog to jazz to electronic music to singer-songwriters, and I must say that I still consider black metal one of the most intense experiences one can have in music. One can agree or disagree with the lyrics, but one cannot stop at them: the croaking voice that becomes something incomprehensible (even more incomprehensible than the growl of death metal) is the very proof that little weight is given to the lyrical dimension. The voice actually becomes an element of atmosphere and psychic bewilderment, like the hyper-fast drumming (a distant rustling) and the confused, decayed riffs. Black metal, perhaps unconsciously, tends to dematerialize time to transcend the real; it is an approach to the limit, which one can see in whichever way they please (superhumanism, or more simply, as in my case, intellectual effort). Satanism is actually almost always a pose to shock the easily impressionable (indeed, it’s the non-truth of black metal, since in a certain sense, satanism was born with rock, including the Rolling Stones!), while the destruction-themed topics don’t always emerge, and if they do, I must say that they are mostly treated in a childish manner. In any case, all of this remains in the background. I don’t know these bands, so I won’t comment, but the very fact that they are Italian doesn't encourage me to listen to them (and that’s another discussion). One note, Fallen: I too have found myself reviewing politically aligned bands, and it is absolutely legitimate to do so and to set up a discussion that goes beyond prejudices and solely aims to discern the artistic value of the individual musician. However, I believe these cases require greater attention from the reviewer, who must try to approach as objectively as possible. Above all, I think it's annoying to fall into emphasis and use terms like "black flame," invoking empires and things like that. It makes everything more childish.

Well done, velvet; paradoxically, you’ve delivered your best in a review that was meant to be a mockery... of course, it's a stylistic exercise in and of itself, but it’s well-written, witty, and with the right irony... if one wants, it can be seen as an unintentional meta-textual essay demonstrating that one can genuinely speculate (from an intellectual point of view) on anything, even on complete rubbish, which is what this film is. Down with the salons!!!
