I rarely comment, but I have to do it here: amazing review, I don't know why, it almost moved me in the end. I don't know why, it was the best thing I could read right now, at this moment, on a Saturday morning, totally wrecked right after waking up, and a bit annoyed as well: the right piece at the right time...and the best way to talk about this album (even though it doesn't get much attention), the best review I found online, Debaser is special for this reason too, a lot of nonsense but gradually unbeatable gems. Thanks to the reviewer, thanks to the site.

Dear Sfascia, the latest from Swans is probably my album of the year, but there’s already a review, and as you may have understood, I don’t like duplicates or triplicates. I say probably because it’s competing with the latest, also gargantuan, offering from Scott Walker, but in this case, frankly, I don’t feel up to it...

Hello everyone, thank you for the abundant comments. I was expecting a flood of insults from the fans, but I hope it’s clear that my judgment was critical but not destructive. The Radiohead, I repeat, remain great, and sustaining such success in this way is a miracle. I like them less, but I certainly can't say they have sold out or disgraced themselves. I’m sorry, however, that many comments have focused on the Radiohead fan base, which I did not intend to disparage, especially since I myself am part of that group. In another review, I read something beautiful, namely that Radiohead's music is so intimate that it's as if everyone has lived a personal experience rather than a collective one, which one would expect from a concert of this scale. The Radiohead did not take off in this sense, but it’s also true that they represent, above all, the atomization of the individual in our society, so I couldn’t – consistently – expect anything different. Misplaced expectations? Goodbye.

Beware, folks, of Memento's advice, as he is a bit washed up and ready to get excited over nothing, since he’s got shit in his ears anyway. This album has the virtue of arriving at the right moment for me; if it had been December, who knows.... To anyone feeling uncertain, I still recommend trying "mind control" and "why I can't cry anymore," perhaps not on YouTube, given the sound quality. As for Psychocandy, I’m listening to it again right now and I still can’t wrap my head around how ahead of their time the Jesus and Mary Chain were. But it’s unfair to always bring them up; it’s like not listening to thrash metal anymore just because Slayer played Reign in Blood. P.S. The CD is in digipack.

Hi everyone, thanks for the comments. I just wanted to say that "Damnation" is not a bad album, but it didn’t convince me like all the previous ones did. And to think that at the time of the release of "Blackwater Park," I wrote an email to the band’s website to loudly request an acoustic album... but I had "Harvest" in mind. Instead, "Damnation," except for the beautiful "Windowpane" and a couple of other tracks, felt packed with fillers, as if the acoustic side of Opeth, stripped of the metal counterpart, wasn't enough on its own... I saw a band often out of focus, at times lacking depth, I found Akerfeldt's voice not always impactful, I found frankly unnecessary passages, overall an ingenuous band, not in control of their means, banal at certain moments, mannerist at others, where the same band previously hadn’t missed a beat. But as they say, it’s a matter of tastes...

No, come on, no... it seems like an inappropriate criticism... I can't even look at hip-hop on a postcard, but in its genre this could be a masterpiece, I don't know, like Dalek, although Dalek is better: a good reinterpretation in today's world of a genre that gave everything in the eighties and then ruined itself irreparably in the following decade. But here there are all the ingredients to enjoy it even as a novice: well-built beats, nice electronics, good impact, apocalyptic mood, well-crafted and layered sound constructions, noteworthy variations; in my opinion, it could appeal even to those who aren't familiar with the genre, it doesn't bore, it pumps enough. For example, I bought it out of curiosity and I don't find all this crap in it, and it doesn't seem commercial at all... you probably just don't like the genre...

Hello everyone, I wanted to give a special thanks to the site debaser, where it’s always a pleasure for me to write and which gives me the chance to write a review like this one, lengthy and – ultimately – inconclusive, since it doesn’t even provide a definitive judgment on the work in question. The review, which among other things isn’t one of my favorites, came out in a rush and was meant to be just a musical conversation, with the sole intention of not being the usual review on Burzum that you can find by the dozen. But I think most people got that since, overall, it managed to avoid the predictable page of negative comments and insults on the usual worn-out topics (Burzum the killer - a theme that I’ve avoided discussing to avoid falling into the usual cycle of clichés - etc). I like to see debaser not only as a place of free expression but also as a space for cross-cutting and unexpected perspectives, which unfortunately don’t seem to find room elsewhere. The review, whether it’s good or bad, I think is original, and if anyone had wanted to read something different on the subject, a sincere analysis with a different approach, thanks to debaser, they had the opportunity, in a web where hyper-information, fleeting news, and superficial analysis prevail. Hello and thank you all.

johnholmes, apocalyptic folk is a sub-genre within dark that has its roots in the industrial music of the seventies: in short, it combines folk guitars with industrial arrangements and deals with eschatological themes. extro91: no, I don’t know Cult of Youth, are they worth it? for everyone else: there’s no need to spend money on the box set, which by the way should already be sold out. Recently, the work has been reissued in 3 CDs that can be purchased individually (about 15 euros each) which I recommend buying together due to the sense of unity of the work (and then I wouldn’t know which one is the best, the three are equivalent, so it makes little sense not to buy them all).

Hello everyone, thank you for the abundant comments, even if I'm arriving late as usual to thank you. Federock, I ordered quite a few nice things, like Tenhi, the latest triple album by Rome, Andrew King, Kirilan Camera, all stuff that will be reviewed soon... Nes, I took a look at the compilation... what can I say, interesting, even though I don't know most of the artists, except for those who have been involved in Current 93's records...

Hi alia76, of course I read your review, which was well done, on "Festing with Panthers," an album that surprised me and even made it to the third spot on my personal list of the best releases of 2011. Lazlow: I took the liberty of extending my judgment "to all of us" because I didn't feel comfortable giving it 4 balls (and it deserved all of them) and thus recommending an album that wouldn't interest most Debaser fans due to its truly unusual stylistic coordinates (like saying: Frank Sinatra might be a great artist, but who listens to him anymore today?). I wanted to point out an interesting proposal, but with a warning to potential interested listeners. For my review of "Napoletana" by Enzo Avitabile, I felt justified in giving it 4, precisely because the message was meant to be different, that is: "Folks, even though this is Neapolitan music, and therefore 'very far from our tastes,' this album totally rocks and even those who aren’t fans of the genre will enjoy it." Thanks to everyone for the comments.
