Cradle Of Filth Thornography

Electric, it will be hard to convince me to appreciate someone like Valor... not only because he appropriated the rights of a band now devoid of its founder and its soul; not only because the albums by Christian Death that he penned are the triumph of mediocrity; not only because he profited from a legendary name, ending up tarnishing it; not only because I've read interviews from former members describing him as a real piece of shit; but also because I've seen him in action and what I saw was one of the worst live performances of my life: a loudmouth with infinite arrogance, a genuinely limited musician/composer, and even pathetic as a frontman (he even imitated Pikachu from Pokémon)... much better was the blonde bassist, who every time she took the microphone significantly uplifted the performance, but he, in my opinion, remains the greatest fraud in the history of rock! If he happens to be friendly or makes serious points in conversation, that certainly doesn't redeem him from the status of absolute artistic nullity that he is.

electric, it's well known that Filth sucks live (especially if you caught them with the fake Christian Death of that idiot Valor, then poor you...). As for their studio work, I wouldn't be so harsh: the Principle, in my opinion, is a true masterpiece, at the time no one was making that kind of music... up until Dusk, I think they were great, but with the subsequent Cruelty and Midian, they started to feel repetitive... Damnation surprised me positively, when I had already written them off, while the last two I didn’t even bother with, they really annoyed me... but I have too much respect for them in the past for them to be completely indifferent to me today, and deep down, I expect a resurgence (I'm not in a hurry, when it comes, it comes, if it comes)... by the way, when I saw Dario Argento's The Third Mother, it was a pleasant surprise to hear Mater Lacrimarum by Demonia (by Simometti) with Dani Filth on vocals during the credits...
Cemetary Sundown

Yesterday, I listened to Sundown (the album) again... mmmm I remembered it better; I'm going back to change my rating...

Fenni, I'm sorry about the theft, but I’d say you didn’t fare too badly: tweak your 5% and adapt it to any other album by the Ozric...

Great! You also mentioned Cemetary! I'll say it right away: I'm biased, I like them, just like I enjoy the electro-goth reincarnation of Sundown (alongside Hagel from Tiamat) and the return to the fold with Cemetary 1213: it’s true, they aren’t essential, and in a sense they’re a faded copy of Paradise Lost (who are from another planet), but you did well to mention bands like Sisters of Mercy and Fields of Nephilim, because in a way they were among the first in metal to explicitly draw inspiration from certain sounds (One Second is from '97 and Skeletron Skeleton from '99)... and then Lodmalm has always been likable to me, a clown who definitely takes himself too seriously, but with a strong personality that has always managed to stand out despite the various lineup and style changes... this is definitely the best album he has put together... a 3 is the objective score, but I want to give it a 4 out of affection! Good job, at this point I expect something on Sundown, assuming you wanted to bet on this project that has garnered very few followers (for certain reasons, justifiably...)
Nocturnus The Key

this was missing, good catch... but they never really grabbed me too much... sure, making space death metal was a revolutionary thing for the genre, but today I must say they’ve aged really poorly (the reunion album is terrible, among other things...), while the usual cynic and pestilence still sound fresh as ever... Tepes: I wouldn't place them in the column on forgotten death, rather I would start one on doomed death...

Nekro, maybe it’s my copy that has traveled around the world... not that I didn't like it, but I went through a phase in my life when I gave away everything unnecessary... I regret many of the CDs I sold today (but don’t try to sell me Danteferno, okay?)
Unholy The Second Ring Of Power

Once I owned one of their CDs (there was a little statue on the cover, maybe it was their debut...) and I must say they shocked me quite a bit... so much so that I got rid of it immediately, I just couldn't stand them... I don't know the current funeral doom scene, but if people like this are being reevaluated or even considered "light," it raises more than one question in my mind about the new generation... and frankly, I don't see the point of all these labels... funeral doom, depressive black metal... as if there were a doom party or happy black metal...

danteferno...I thought I was the only one in the world who had bought it...I don’t know where you live and who you are, but I feel like we’ve lived parallel lives...as for Pungent Stench, I’ve never felt like delving deeper into them, not because of any faults on their part, I just think it’s a series of unfortunate circumstances...
Atrocity Todessehnsucht

they don’t drive me crazy... this is probably their peak, but I find it too confusing... tempo changes, cumbersome structures, and then Krull’s voice which totally doesn't match the eclecticism of the music... no, in death I prefer synthesis, and if they really want to throw in two hundred riffs per track, at least let them not be trivial (and that's no coincidence that my favorite track is necropolis, the most linear of all)... however, the dark and decadent atmospheres are remarkable, unusual for a death album...
