Kate Bush 50 Words for Snow
Voto:
I couldn't agree more. It's Kate's most anti-commercial album, yet it exudes an irresistible charm... after a few listens, it becomes clear that this is an important work, intimate, mysterious, and above all courageous: who wouldn't feel discouraged after the obsessive repetition of the piano chords in "Snowflake"? Yet it's a true masterpiece, and the rest of the album is of a higher class, just like the best of Kate. After the doubtful "The director's cut," this is a five-star comeback. Thank you for existing, Kate Bush!!!!!

Has anyone noticed the influence of the Doors in Lady Fantasy?

I haven't heard it, but I believe it's of good quality; nice review. Rush musically died in 1993, the last album worthy of their career... the rest is negligible. Vapor Trails their low point. Snakes and Arrows a bit better to be honest... but since they abandoned keyboards, they lost the magic that made them unique in the world.

Listening to it more increases the rating too... from a previous 3, I'm now at 4 stars... but I still believe that Capossela needs to change direction with the next album. He has reached the highest point possible of the style he began with Canzoni a Manovella, now he should return to simpler things, even if they are less ambitious. And I can't shake off the feeling that some pieces feel forced in the meter of the lyrics (Job, for example). So, okay Vinicio, I still care for you a lot, but for the next one, please, change!
PS Why do you insist on saying that L'Oceano Oilalà resembles Volta la Carta?? Do you even know Celtic-Irish folk? Do you know how many "plagiarisms" could be cited (Volta la Carta first)?

@CABERNET: generally, with the increase in listens, one gets to know the album better and the doubts are clarified; I can confirm that probably in a little while the three stars might become four, but I believe that Capossela with this album has scraped the bottom of the barrel of the style inaugurated with Canzoni a Manovella. The next album will need to be directed towards other horizons, or we will find ourselves with a Capossela trapped in his own self. Best regards :-)

I’ve been listening to it these days; I might change my mind in the coming weeks, but the underlying trend is clear: Capossela, at the peak of his success, lets himself go and brings forth his most ambitious and sophisticated work. Only, as has happened to other artists, a double album either showcases a special inspiration, or it becomes a boomerang. What strikes me, overall, is the predictability of most of the tracks; in a concept album about the sea, you hear exactly what you would expect from Capossela on such a theme. Moreover, the meter of many pieces feels forced, especially in the adaptations of texts like those of Melville; it lacks the natural flow of music. However, it will likely have a strong impact when performed live. Therefore, while I do appreciate this work overall, I must objectively say that Capossela, in his attempt to soar high, has singed his wings. For the next album, there needs to be a return to a greater lightness in composition and atmosphere.

I've heard it a couple of times but it doesn't excite me. I find it a bit anonymous... there aren't any great compositional peaks apart from two or three notable tracks. Present was the best of the comeback phase, in my opinion.

The ones you mentioned are the songs that made them famous, but go and discover everything else... these are phenomena!
