Lana Del Rey Born To Die
Voto:
I give it a 3.5 because I was expecting more retro vibes from this album and less presence of hip-hop nuances. It's really beautiful, melodic, and refined pop that was truly missing. The title track goes straight to the heart.
Terrence Malick The Tree Of Life
Voto:
What a splendid film.
HBO Game Of Thrones - Il Trono Di Spade
Voto:
I expected much more. Having read the novels, I find it a very didactic adaptation. I was hoping for some flair in the direction, but instead, the pace is terribly flat, similar to the soporific rhythm of "The Borgias". I would have appreciated some bravado, some striking idea, but instead, I witnessed complete dullness.
Nightwish Imaginaerum
Voto:
Something doesn't convince me about this album. Very sophisticated, but Tuomas is now bordering on mannerism. I was expecting greater variety, richer and more surprising orchestral arrangements, and above all, more punchy guitars and less plastic ones.
David Bowie Heathen
Voto:
Mature, sophisticated work but a bit dull. I can't listen to it from start to finish without yawning.
Kate Bush 50 Words for Snow
Voto:
Splendid. A clear, icy (but not antiseptic) and lyrical album. Much less bright than aerial. Some songs evoke a deep melancholy.
Giorgio Moroder Scarface
Voto:
A concentrate of super light 80s pop. Perfect for the kitsch atmospheres and neon colors of the film.
Tori Amos Night Of Hunters
Voto:
As Lobotomy writes, it's not exactly an album for a "quick listen." Not at all; the more you listen to it, the less cold it feels, but rather challenging. A challenge that gradually unfolds. And you are amazed by the clarity of the sounds, the ethereal yet dense concept filled with emotions, as well as the courage to propose a work that is much less commercial compared to the previous "abnormally...", which I still appreciate.
Yes, Tori is aging very well.
Tori Amos Night Of Hunters

I agree that Tori has let herself go too much into an "academic search for sound." This album, while qualitatively superior, feels less spontaneous than Beekeeper or American Doll Posse. The return to the piano and the choice not to work with a major label anymore for greater artistic independence actually reveal a different production influence. We don’t have intrusive guitars or pervasive keyboards, but orchestral arrangements that are sometimes too pronounced, cold, and, indeed, academic.
I would give it a 3 1/2, almost leaning towards a 4 for the intellectual effort behind the album. But the coldness remains.
