Death Cab for Cutie Codes & Keys #
Voto:
Transatlanticism is a beautiful album, maybe a little masterpiece. Narrow Stairs, on the other hand, except for two tracks, really did it for me. I miss Plans, and even though I've heard good things about it, I'm not intrigued at all. In any case, based on the opinion people have of Death Cab and what I've listened to, I find them definitely overrated en general.

Dragnet is an absolute masterpiece, and the only album of theirs that I've listened to; I love the quirky nature of their songs.

I think a bit like Bartle; I also find they have a more "light-hearted" approach compared to Mogwai and Godspeed. Still, they are nice to listen to, just don't place them on the same level :-)

Look, I completely agree with you; we were talking about the "new frontier of dubstep" and I expected, if not a masterpiece, at least an album with its fair share of "disruption." Instead, what we have here is essentially a pop dubstep album (but also just plain pop, why not?), nice enough, sure, but rather tedious at certain points. If James hadn't been so hyped up, I probably would have enjoyed this album more, but the expectations were just too high, really.

What a great film this is, chilling in a truly exemplary way. Not to mention the cinematography, which was enough on its own to give me chills. Anyway, among the genres, for me it's thriller more or less, I mean, I wouldn't have categorized it that way. It's not wrong, but I think it's a completely marginal aspect in the end.

Best Italian band of the '60s/'70s (apart from prog), well, too many reservations. They did some nice things in the past, but like PFM, they absolutely have no reason to exist today, just as maybe progressive doesn't have a reason to exist anymore in general.

I've listened to some black metal, and I must say I prefer the more intricate stuff in the genre (like Dark Fortress, for example) rather than the more "true" kind, so to speak. I appreciate the deliberately rotten spirit (low-quality recording, poor technique, etc.), but I just can't bring myself to like it. What I totally hate is when many enthusiasts I know prioritize "culture" over the music itself.

Great record for sure, penalized, as someone already mentioned, by the voice being recorded too low, and it's a shame because with lyrics like these, if grasped from the very beginning, I would have liked it even more. Among the Italian hardcore scene, my favorites continue to be Negazione, particularly Lo Spirito Continua. Geb, I agree with you if you talk about hardcore as a real movement, but why should that musical "facet" (so only taking the characteristics of the music and not the "sociological" ones) no longer exist? In a sea of nonsense from the current Italian "punk," with a thousand crap oi bands full of garbage, it's just nice to see people like Attrito, Congegno, the already mentioned La Crisi, or the more opportunistic Plastionation. 😊

Anyway, I want to understand where the difficulty lies in Trout Mask Replica; it's ultra-experimental, yes, but definitely not hard to listen to. Sometimes I even find myself humming some parts, just saying :-) Of Otto, I’ve only tried one record; it’s not that it’s not interesting, though I just can’t really appreciate it.

I’m feeling it, not bad, Militant A seems improved to me, I find it less monotonous. Too bad the lyrics are a bit lacking in impact, I mean, they’re nice, but when I listen to the albums up to "Mi sa che stanotte è un brivido continuo," here it doesn’t feel the same. The beats are fantastic. In short, they’re inferior to the old Assalti, but much better than the previous one.
