Dente Live @ Calvari (Ge) 07.05.10
Voto:
I’ve never listened to Dente and I have no intention of doing so; just by ā€œfeelingā€, he gives off the impression that I wouldn’t like him at all...
Skoll Il segreto di Lacedemone

I had a friend who annoyed me for an entire year with "alternative" music; usually, the songs are anthems that sound like they were written by those little fascists in middle school with the swastika on their backpacks. In any case, not everything is crap; for example, Tracce dei 270 bis is a nice album (even the lyrics, while not exceptional, are not annoying). I prefer Sole e Acciaio by Skoll (even that one recorded all by himself, much more rockin' and with better lyrics, in my opinion); from this work, I only save the beautiful Pioggia D'Irlanda and Notturno Futurista.

Masterful review, after reading it I downloaded the album and I liked it a lot. It feels tailor-made for me :)
Gore Verbinski The Weather Man

The Pirates of the Caribbean saga is not bad at all for me; it's entertainment, but it's well done... especially the characters are not stereotypical.
Cathedral The Guessing Game

Great album, even though it's the only one I know by Cathedral, I need to try to get the older ones... Here you go.
Deftones Diamond Eyes
Voto:
Well, to be a bit craft-like, it is craft-like... but in any case, it's a nice album. I agree with Alexander that they could have varied the tracks a bit, but it's fine like this; I was expecting worse. And Chino is amazing here.

I re-discovered Deftones (before, I was very much against the genre called nu metal, more for ideological reasons from a certain personal period than anything else) and Around the Fur is my favorite album of theirs. The last two aren’t bad (unlike the recent Korn chapters), but after White Pony, doing better was verrrrry difficult. Of this latest work, I only listened to the single, which seemed nice, maybe a bit by the book, in the sense that they seem to have taken their sound as it is without looking for new solutions, and that might be a good thing. In short, I’m curious to listen to this Diamond Eyes :-)
Timoria Viaggio Senza Vento
Voto:
Well, I have a lukewarm impression of an album I haven't listened to and honestly, I'm not too keen on doing so. The Timoria, from what I've heard, don't really appeal to me, and moreover, I've always found Renga's voice a bit too over-the-top to the point of being irritating...

@geb: I fundamentally do not find your argument wrong; it just seems to me (I mean, I've never read many interviews with Bowie and Reed) that you mentioned people who, before reaching the point of creating these self-indulgent sketches, had "traveled" more, in short, they had enough experience to be credible. Bianconi, I don’t know much about him; I imagine he studied a lot, but that’s where it ends. I’m not sure if I explained myself well; did you get what I meant? :)
