Finally, a review of this album (excluding, of course, that obscenity published more than a month before its release, of course) that is clear, pure, and crystal clear. Beautifully written, it fully reflects the impressions I've formed of this record: the "calm" moments, infused with Mikael's melodic voice, abound, but that's not a bad thing. Everything is in its place as it should be, but for me, who loves Opeth primarily for the terrifying Growl and the more intense moments, I must say that this Watershed has left me a bit with a bitter aftertaste. It's still Opeth, for heaven's sake, but I believe that in some time the listens I give to it will be far outweighed by those dedicated to the band's older albums. Blackwater Park above all.
To you, Hell, a compliment. You write well, once again.
Esoteric Subconscious Dissolution into the Continuum

Great. Very well. You've ventured into a realm that's not at all easy to explore with such ease and familiarity. You have all the tools to be interesting and you also show a great culture. I like it. As for the album which, to be fair, is quite a weighty claustrophobic affair, I find myself in slight disagreement: for me, their best work remains "Metamorphogenesis", but it’s always a matter of taste. In both cases, it's never quite clear in which leaden direction they are fishing, and the construction of the atmospheres is always phenomenal. We’re looking forward to seeing what they will offer us with the upcoming new album. I hope, on that occasion as well, to read one of your reviews. Best regards.

@Fede: You knew, actually you know well. It's coming out on the 19th. But there’s a badge that you can download from their site or from their MySpace (or if you prefer from my blog, but I won’t post the link to avoid self-promotion), where you can listen to the entire album in streaming.

@ElectricOne: I hadn't thought about the similarities with Ceremony of Opposites by Samael, you know? It might still be possible. After all, the two bands share the same roots, and both have embarked on very experimental paths. To put it in my own words though, I only see Moonspell in Moonspell.

To everyone else: thank you from the bottom of my heart for your interest.
Behemoth The Apostasy

I must say that I've never been a big fan of technicalities. Nile, sure, but they've always seemed too "mannerist" to me. However, after listening to these Behemoth, I have to change my mind: each song manages to create an atmosphere, and there's not a note out of place throughout the entire album. They are fantastic. And well done to you too, Hell, for writing such a beautiful review. Cheers.

I don’t want to be a party pooper, for heaven's sake. But there’s a lot to say. So, you know, I didn’t know that Jari from Wintersun wanted to emulate Y.M., nor that he had "brutal" contributions in his sound, but you know, there's always something to learn from someone who calls everyone "crucchi," who still lives with the myth of posers and non-posers, and who bypasses none other than Primordial. I always wonder what the point is of publishing these reviews, but there you have it.

Well done, well done. I will definitely get the record and I will come back to vote for you if I like it. I promise.

Well done, well done. This is a truly masterfully crafted review for a band in a genre that is too often overlooked. But perhaps that's for the best. The 4 for the album is only because I haven't delved into it much yet, but I promise to come back here and vote again soon. Regards.

In my opinion, much better. Then, as they say? De gustibus....

It's no doubt that in certain moments this album shows a dark sound (though I would say more ethereal. Perhaps that adjective fits better), but not everything dark necessarily has to be Black Metal. There are many other genres you could associate with "Lemuria," which are equally "dark," as you qualify them, and have nothing to do with Black Metal. If Nocturno Culto read your words, he would have already impaled you on a spit! :-))
Grave Digger The Reaper
Voto:
For heaven's sake, the album is truly a great album and there's not much to say about it, and Grave Digger is a historic band in the Heavy genre that’s been too often forgotten and overlooked. But, excuse me for the note: you mentioned starting from here if one wants to listen to "real metal." But why, if I may ask? Do you believe there are bands in this vein that have more right than others to claim the title of "metalhead"? I’ve never liked these "caste" discussions, I must tell the truth. Therefore, my rating is influenced by this thought, but consider it as encouragement. Well done anyway.
