Very beautiful and accurate. I share the sentiment about Van Halen... a band that's a bit too "polished" to truly stay in the heart. It's a shame they weren't born ten years earlier and weren't produced with the techniques of the early '70s, which were rougher but certainly more effective in delivering a true rock sound.

I believe that Pooh should not be underestimated: except for the drummer, they are excellent musicians, with worthy creativity. In the '70s, their pop rock with prog undertones was very valid. Then they declined. Disdaining them seems a bit snobbish to me, and, in any case, the contempt for the group should not extend to the review, which is serious and cultured.

I've seen it a ton of times but never bought it. However, you intrigue me. A fun fact: Frank Zappa despised this album and decided to write "Teen Age Wind" in "You Are What You Is" (1981) to prove to a friend that he could compose a piece in the style of Cross in 10 minutes. It's not to say that the genius from Baltimore was always right... ;)

@Ocram: if - as I understood - you want to "diverge" from the usual rock atmospheres for something different, start right here, and possibly from Mysterious Traveller by Weather Report. Thanks to the others for the comments.

I believe you that little is said about John McLoughlin: he never existed. The real one is McLaughlin...
I beg your pardon for the typo.

Excellent, and different from the usual also for the personal references, your review. I'm not familiar with the album, but - no offense meant - a band that is too popular with fifteen-year-olds shouldn't be for me.

Very good. I wouldn’t have known how to be that effective. The only note: in journalistic vernacular, it’s often written "fare sfracelli", but the more correct wording is "fare sfaceli" (e.g., "che sfacelo!"). ;)

Thanks to everyone for the comments received so far: just to please, LdL, for better or worse, has awakened spirits more than my reviews of Elvis and the Beatles (which I fully confirm) and other reviews of more serious artists that no one has paid attention to (see also Randy Newman, who stands out among the noted). Curiosity is a tricky beast (almost as much as Leone), and the grotesque attracts more than the beautiful. LdL confirms that it is the last standard-bearer - perhaps unwittingly - of punk nihilism. A worthy companion of the rock re-founders, like Slint? Hmm...

Never heard of them, but they must be good, given the premises. Good job on your description.

Beautiful. The album isn't bad but suffers from ups and downs. On Frankenstein, I believe there were some references to Demetrio Stratos of Area and to the lyricist of the same Area - Gianni Sassi - known precisely as Frankenstein. I don't know... maybe a way towards intellectual engagement... you should catch a glimpse of this in the inner notes.
