Got it this morning. I listened to it at the wrong time. It's really a great album. Don't miss the concert. Bye.

I was waiting for you scott :) and we perfectly agree on being in disagreement. Do you think it’s an album that can last? That's my fundamental doubt.

Tomorrow night I’ll be playing in Sassari. Then I’ll do a comparison with your review.

Well, very good. Keep in mind that the protagonist Vladek is a Polish Jew who moves to the States after the Holocaust. Previtali's translation highlights that Vladek's way of speaking (in English) is overall filled with mistakes. This aspect was absent in the previous translation. I think I’ll buy a spare copy as well :) Let me know what you think when you finish reading it, pugliamix. Bye!

This album is fantastic! I got it the other day after a brief listen, but I hadn't read this review. Then, as I listened to it more and more, I thought, "this is stuff for condor." A little doubt, I go to search and there it is (surprise) the review!!!!! Condor never really goes wrong, even when I don't read his reviews :))

I gladly drink beer (is a liter of Guinness okay?) Frantz. However, I’m a bit surprised by the reactions to this review. First, I was surprised that no one had listened to this album yet, despite the enthusiastic reviews seen everywhere. I expected a discussion. Just yesterday, I had a nice and fun conversation with a dear friend who loves this album and who, all in all, has very similar musical tastes to mine. Well, he really likes this album too, even though he finds it somewhat ephemeral, short-lived, like I do. In response to my criticism that the album doesn’t embrace anything from the Yiddish musical tradition, he calmly replied, “Well, maybe that’s better. Maybe it has nothing to do with those traditions, and what they wrote and said about their intentions is just a lot of nonsense. You have to listen to it forgetting about the klezmer orchestra, moni ovaia, the klezmatics. You need to clear your mind of everything and take them for what they are.” He left me stunned because it’s a position I hadn’t considered. I tried again. But nothing doing. In my case, I really can’t clear my mind, can’t forget the music I’ve listened to for years, so the sense of hives lingers. As you can see, you can never tell.

Among the Gomez albums, this is the one I like the least. Beautiful review.

The sentence comes from "The Cuchulain Cycle" by Yeats, I believe the Garzanti edition, with English and Italian text. As for "Angela's Ashes," I seem to remember there is indeed a movie (I think by Alan Parker) and a lengthy "discussion" with an alcoholic writer (who knows if it was true) from Australia :) but that's another story. I haven't read the book; I've been told it's beautiful. Can you confirm?
