Paolo Conte Razmataz

True. Razmataz is a project that Paolo Conte has been thinking about for several years (reportedly 30), complex and ambitious in its desire to combine different artistic languages: music, theater, painting, image. Therefore, it is difficult to evaluate the album on its own without knowing (I’m speaking for myself, of course) the other elements at play. Perhaps to fully appreciate it, I should have attended the musical from which this music is taken, or at least listened to the album while looking at the paintings created for the occasion. Sometimes, I also find it a bit challenging to consider it a true album by Conte, and this is somewhat of a paradox, because the album contains all the characteristic thematic pathways of the singer-songwriter, as you highlight. However, the CD is merely one dimension of this broader project. Moreover, the way it is presented, the number of musicians, and the inclusion of other voices make me think of this album as a kind of anomaly in his history. A beautiful anomaly, mind you. Bye.

I didn’t polemicize at all, Benzo, but only asked for clarification, precisely because reading what you wrote I thought it was a joke and then I told myself, “maybe I understood it wrong.” In any case, I invite you to consider the possibility – equally possible – that you may have explained yourself poorly. That can happen too. In communication, there aren’t problems only on one side. When several people don’t understand, there could be a flaw in the sender of the message, or not? In other words, you could have taken the feedback in this sense instead of saying, “it’s your problem.” At least that’s how I see it. Bye.

Same as above. I liked it a lot, but reading the review I have the impression that I will like this even more.

I find it hard to mentally associate Coldplay, R.E.M., and Will Oldham. It's like reading the contradictory comments of giov and nick. However, I don't entirely disdain the "valium records"... What to do? I look for something online to listen to and we’ll see. Welcome murmur.

I had already read another flattering review some time ago; I will keep that in mind.

Words can be combined just like musical notes, resulting in either descriptions or "simple" sensations (just to mention two categories). Perhaps this writing fits more into the second group, as it has the ability to convey a feeling related to the music of an artist through the evocation of a memory. And discovering these impressions makes me want to explore this album further, to learn more about it. In the end, that’s what I ask from a review. Similarly, I would have liked to discover chronicles and sensations – even in the form of comments – about the "Complete Recordings" of R. Johnson. What a shame.

Yes, it's true, it really is worth buying this record. Some interpretations are truly remarkable; in addition to the mentioned ones, I really enjoyed "like a monkey in a zoo" (Vic Chesnutt) and "living life" (Eels). Perhaps it's true that there are a few slips, but I believe that's part of the cover game, and overall it leaves the impression of a sincere tribute, of quality. And to be honest, the stunning cover alone would be enough to decide to get it :)
