The project continues ... [re: jazz] takes shape. It evolves into a sort of modifiable structure, composed of a core base and a large group of talented artists who alternate. The experiment is no longer so original, but still deserves great attention, even if only to discover new talents or to appreciate (should there still be any need) the technique and skill of Nils Petter Molvær, Matthias Vogt, Heiko Himmighoffen, or the splendid voices of Lisa Bassenge, Jhelisa Anderson, and... not only. Surely, we are far from the first celebratory album, full of compositions masterfully interpreted by these young prodigies born under the sound of jazz. "Point Of View" is a cover album. Mostly well-known tracks borrowed from already known groups such as Soul II Soul (Keep On Movin'), Air (All I Need:-), Ultra Naté (Twisted), Mò Horizons (Remember Tomorrow), U.F.O. (Is Name Is:-), and many others.
The listening experience is delicate, light, almost ethereal, and at times enveloping like the smoke of a cigarette caught in a beam of blue light. Unfortunately, the proposed selection turned out to be not very daring, and the endeavor to distill the jazz soul from certain already widely successful tracks produced a good result, but little that truly leaves a mark. The packaging is certainly noteworthy, always very well-curated with a rich photographic book as a complement. Ultimately, a complementary album, that can be listened to without great surges, without necessarily conquering the scene but no less important for this.
