My dear, you are overly confident in this statement. Rhythm, in my opinion, is part of cinema but also of theater, literature, poetry, and clearly music. It can also be discussed (by the way, zigghio the random ghezzi is awesome! Enea from piddicuso-rovesciafrittate, I leave you with a doubt: what if we simplified non-objective concepts instead? :)) Bye

Look, I wasn't trying to be controversial, Enea, or at least I didn't mean to; I was just adding to what you said what I consider to be rhythm, it was an opinion. The negative connotation I wanted to give was to the absence of rhythm, to flatness, not to anything else, and this too is just an opinion. The alternation was merely a proposed interpretation, something to discuss, that's all. I may have explained myself poorly as usual and you took it the wrong way, but still... I wrote "for me," I added that it needs to be seen case by case and that I respect personal tastes. What more do you want me to say? I don't know. Bye.

Boommmmmm. Come on, zigghio, I think you might be exaggerating a bit ;)) Considering and analyzing Kubrick's cinema by focusing almost exclusively on the visual aspect is a limited interpretation. It's like looking at a cube from above; you only see a square. Try changing your perspective. The fact that certain images have become icons is an effect of his cinema, not the effect. As for the rhythm, Enea, for me it comes precisely from the alternation; a film that is almost exclusively dynamic could be considered devoid of rhythm, but it always depends on the specific case being discussed. Bye :)

For me, he was a genius because every film he made stands out on its own, influencing - if not revolutionizing - different genres each time. I can understand the difficulty in getting into the rhythm of films like 2001: A Space Odyssey or even this EWS, but we need to consider that certain films have their strength only in the cinema. 2001 is a visual experience that you can't separate from the big screen in my opinion. Of course, it's also a subjective matter. However, I believe that there are no "dead times" (perhaps in EWS), but rather an alternation of rhythms, which is different. Aside from these two, it doesn't seem to me that the others are difficult to assimilate, quite the opposite. Shining, Barry Lyndon, Full Metal Jacket, Lolita, A Clockwork Orange are masterpieces. Did they actually bore you? What do you mean, nashira? I don’t understand what you didn’t like. Bye.

Honestly, b-sides often irritate me, even though a compilation of this kind can have a sense and a summarizing value. Overall, in this case, it's the weak concept that stands out. Too much on the table without a logic thread other than the compilation itself. In fact, when it comes to albums, I completely agree with K. when he says they should tell a complete story, they should have a soul, I would say. Then, as El Guevo says, there can also be exceptions to the scheme, which shouldn't be rigid. That said, regarding what the best things are, well, for me that's also relative to different tastes and personalities, all of which are respectable. In this case, what a wonderful world is, for some, a beautiful song, and for others, less so. I believe – not just now – that it’s right this way; after all, I've always thought that if we were in agreement on everything, life would really be a deadly bore. Hi (ps if you’re interested in the compilation with a bè di jenti, let me know, I mean fabeddamilu, I can bring it to the meeting you can organize for Kz :)) )

Well, El Guevo, from my point of view, it’s not exactly as you say, but I don’t feel like arguing. I’ve said what I felt needed to be said, I acknowledge that it was generally exaggerated, and I prefer to put it behind us, maybe returning to talk about music since Gabri's hint gives me the opportunity to do so. As luck would have it, I’ve been listening to two albums that can be considered another commercial operation, but more interesting and partially aligned with what Kappa says: Original Seeds vol 1 and 2. Two albums from 1998 and 2004 that I only recently discovered. These are nothing but a collection of songs "that inspired Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds." It wasn’t Cave who selected the tracks (I believe), and stated this way, it really sounds like just a way to milk money from his fans (perhaps that is indeed the case, but at the same time, these are not exactly widely circulated albums). Nevertheless, I have to admit that the compilation is beautiful!!! There are 30 songs, each one more beautiful than the last (Tom Waits is included: way down in the hole, which is linked to "Red Right Hand") and the logical thread, the meaning, is provided by the rich notes in the booklet, which offer a thousand references and explanations about the connection between the songs and NC&TBS. I haven’t quite understood whether Cave approved or not this compilation work and the meticulous note-taking done by Kim Beissel, which is worth reading and rereading, but - I repeat - the songs are beautiful!! Some of them I didn’t know, so it was a great listening experience also for discovery.
