The other day I watched a documentary about Hendrix and once again I realized how impressive he was. Among the many curiosities, one particularly struck me: it seems that it was Frank Zappa who introduced Hendrix to the wah-wah pedal. And indeed, the adjective "mythical" truly fits the way he used it.
B. B. King & Eric Clapton Riding With The King

I didn't like it that much, I can't really tell you why, maybe I was expecting some sparks that I didn't feel. And to think that I really liked BB King, I even saw him in concert many years ago, he was incredibly charming as well as talented. Lucille at the center of the stage under a spotlight, a kiss on the guitar before owning it, it seemed so small in his hands... how much time has passed.
Johannes Brahms 4 Ballate, 2 Rapsodie e 10 Intermezzi per pianoforte (Glenn Gould)

When I read Josi's question, Gulda immediately came to mind, an interpreter and a character undoubtedly eccentric. Perhaps there is no universal answer, Josi; it seems to me that we must limit ourselves to looking at each case individually. Certainly, there have been very few "personal" interpreters like Gould. However, I believe that both paths are difficult. The "personal" interpretation, in fact, is as risky as the one that seeks to uncover the composer’s intentions. In this regard, for example, every time I listen to the last piano sonata by Beethoven performed by Benedetti Michelangeli, I can’t help but think how challenging it must have been for him to bring out and convey all the strength of that original "passion" from the notes written on the score.

In the comments, I notice rather contrasting opinions about this album between this and the other review, but I must admit that this presentation you've written makes it quite interesting to me, at least concerning the themes it raises. There's no point in asking for samples; I have the impression that 30 seconds per track can't say much about this work.

Brahms and Gould make a nice pair, Grass; I'm glad you brought up the former. I find the definition that sees him as a romantic looking towards the past stimulating, but I promise to return to this point in the future, there are interesting aspects to delve into on this topic. This album, on the other hand, I don't know; I do have something in a double CD published by Amadeus about a century ago (I rate that one), when they were still bringing out incredible gems; today it seems a bit more subdued as a magazine. Bye :)

"Take me away from here / out of this room / with your small hands and eyes / out of these walls / take me away from here / if you are sure / of your voice // Take me outside from here / into the air that moves / with all your hair / and with your colors / take me outside from here / you are distant to me / with your voice // Take me away from here / if you want / and I’ll come with you / with your voice." How big and intimate this little song is, how beautiful this album full of emotions. It builds a world of rain, of mist. An autumnal album all year round. Moreover, I really love the version of the title track included in the album "il valzer di un giorno," created together with Pier Maria Giovannone. I remember that "il valzer di un giorno" was distributed in newsstands because there were difficulties with the record label in Italy... oh well. Then I bought in France the splendid edition from harmonia mundi that can now also be found in Italy. Anyway, Gabri, if Lampo and also "il valzer di un giorno" interest you, no problem, except for titanic shipping times :)
