No, you’re not. For example, I also didn’t find the first approaches easy while listening to him; then I saw the pictures painted by the words of his songs.

I believe many people here would be interested to know that this year this album has been re-released in a Legacy edition with a second CD featuring a live recording from that period. The album is simply wonderful. His voice, well...

Yes, maybe a four could be the fairest rating for this album, but personally, I have too many memories tied to these songs. I have the vinyl and I cherish it. A few weeks ago, I felt like listening to it again ... "the inns beyond the gates are still open as they once were / but all the people who used to drink there, inside or out, are gone" what a song ...

It’s quite a stretch to say: "TODAY, just as back then, my impression is that of an outdated project." The comparison with Bitches Brew is the same. This isn’t about assumptions regarding intentions; actions and the paths Miles followed throughout his life speak for themselves.

I really like Rites even though it was criticized at the time for some new age tendencies, it seems to me. Instead of Douglas, try listening to the previous album Mountain Passages recorded in the Dolomites; I truly enjoyed it a lot.

Welcome UcCaBaRuCcA (such a cute nickname), as for the album, I already shared my thoughts in the other review on the site, here I add that I liked this one. Bye

Sorry for the delay, I've had too much to do these days. So where was I? Well... reading on, I see that unfortunately things haven't settled down, what a shame (by the way, come on guys, make peace, it’s not worth it). Katchè's work is interesting Antonio, it's a nice album for me, also because it has a very good overall strength and it seems to me that there’s been some great work on the sounds. Then in the booklet, there’s a small reference to Miles and Petrucciani, a sign of affection. As for Jon Balke, I haven't heard him. As for recent ECM releases, I practically have nothing right now. I'm working my way through the latest from Dave Douglas and Petrella's album, waiting to dive into Jon Hassell, so there's no shortage of material, and on Sunday I'm going to see Paolo Fresu. If I feel like it (and have the time), we’ll talk about it again. To dear Mr. Nobody, I say that as he already knows, I experienced the last Garbarek differently (for me, nothing has broken) but the beauty also lies in reading and comparing ideas with different nuances. Bye :)

Great album Grasshopper and an impeccable review as usual, rich in content, impressions, and descriptions. There’s really little left to say. If anything, in response to the comments, I want to mention that I don’t believe Garbarek has exhausted his musical journey. I really liked his latest work, I’ve listened to it a lot, and I will listen to it again. Bye :)

But as unfinished as it may be, I wouldn't diminish the value of this record, also because its influence remained in the years to come, alongside a principle of new and ongoing musical contaminations, embodying a school of artistic vision aimed at maximum open-mindedness, a synthesis of a musical career traversed always along rugged paths, and in my opinion, that is not insignificant, something that doesn't adequately emerge from the review. Moreover, Miles was not just a musical catalyst; he was not merely a magnet that attracted everything towards him. He emanated influence, altered the destinies of those who encountered him, changed attitudes, created trends rather than followed them. Therefore, it makes no sense to assess this record separately from the artistic intentions (barely sketched out in the review and, moreover, poorly contradicted), without adequately contextualizing the moment in which it was released and the subsequent influences that resulted from it. Essentially, there is indeed very little analysis in these words, and what little good is present gets lost in a mix of banalities.
