Explosions In The Sky Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever

Very effective review kyklos. God is dead, rock is dead, and I'm not feeling so well either. There’s too much haste in declaring the death of certain types of music; perhaps only specific categories are dying in favor of new genres... the mysteries of catalogers, and we don’t care as we listen to everything that comes our way.
Marc Ribot Y Los Cubanos Postizos Muy Divertido!

A nice little disc, but all in all, it seemed to me inferior and less spontaneous than Ribot's previous Cuban one.

I had taken Escondida, listened to it, and appreciated it after lingering on the veranda that zzzz spoke about on these pages (the educational function of debaser). I knew of this album's existence, but I still hadn't grabbed it even though it's on my wishlist (among the top 10), and knowing that certain atmospheres—albeit with due differences—are also present in this new work makes me think I should speed up the purchase. An informative note for the novice Odysseus: the comment space can (is allowed to) serve as a supplementary element for aspects you find lacking in the review. In other words, since you know the album, you have the right to share your thoughts on this topic not just (and not really) about the review. Hello.

Regarding credits, I leave two supplementary notes on the album. Released by Thrill Jockey towards the end of last year, it was recorded under the direction of Howe Gelb, who involved quite a few people in the project. There are indeed some members from Grandaddy, Arcade Fire, John Parish, Matt Ward, etc. All the tracks were assembled by the head mechanic Howe Gelb, except for "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" (a cover of "Traffic") and "Baby It's Cold Outside" by Frank Loesser.
Haloa :)

I still haven't understood Gelb Vì's latest album; it often happens that I appreciate him only after a few months. In this case, I'm still not there yet, but there will be time for it to happen. Hopefully, he lightens the suitcase :) Massimof, always too kind for this diary-like introduction, muchas gracias :) I hope PaMeLlO and Surferkangaroo will appreciate the album, let me know; if you're unsatisfied, you won't be compensated though [dies malos] ;) Anyway, as Jim says, it's true that debaser is meant to share our music with others. In fact, referring back to Antmo (thx), the beauty is precisely in using these spaces to get closer to genres that are far from us. For example, thanks to many reviewers, I've discovered albums I would have never "found," and I always remember Joser's review on Godspeed, for instance. As for mocking ourselves, odradek, let's just say that sometimes I have the personal feeling of getting lost in a sea of data and notions, certainly useful, they're coordinates, but we mustn't forget that there's more, and sometimes it can happen that we don't think about it in an excess of searching for balance that in the long run - ah, volatility - tires me out. As for the tie, at least it's not daily; today, for example, just a polo shirt and jeans :)

Disorderly responses ... Styx I'm glad, let's hope you like this road, since you're there go also in the direction of Calexico (Feast of Wire) Dear tritalamiere the pleasure described becomes much greater after a day spent driving around on the island paths (poor suspensions), often much more suitable for rallying than for leisurely scenic excursions. The tie then has the serious flaw of preventing blood from flowing to the brain, so taking it off brings a pleasure that I would dare to define flowing :) Madomoisellezzzzzzz I'm happy that the music of this disc has been to your liking, but I regret to inform you that the recitation at the end of the record is not by Cat Power, but by one Marie Lorette Friis, although the affinity is undeniable, and that can only be pleasing. I also take the liberty of highlighting that the words recited towards the end of the record refer to the jazzy piece "Baby it's cold outside" with some variation, but I must say that they are not cold at all, even though they do give a bit of a chill [ah the being verbose...] :)

Why not Styx, but I wouldn't say no to a little trip around Giant Sand if I were you. Anyway, in two links in the review, there are full mp3s of two tracks from the album to get an idea; this also applies to you, Trell, so you don't have to search too long just to see what this album is like, which actually fits this season better than the autumn when it was released. Bye :)

You're welcome, Monsieur Odradek. I'm glad you liked it. I usually go hunting for the records reviewed in here as well, but I had some difficulties with many of the ones you reviewed, what a shame... bye :)
