LA RECENSIONE

Dominic Miller caresses the strings and gives them their own voice.

The ambitious project of a solo album had been lying in Dominic Miller’s drawers for several years, forgotten and gathering dust, never truly considered by the author himself.

Only in 1995, with the support of his family, did the most intimate compositions of the Argentine disciple of Sebastio Tapajos become part of that project which, note by note, took its definitive shape.
All of this in just a few months.

Initially conceived as a rock album project, diverting then to the melodic lines of pop and jazz in a unique style, “First Touch” is actually a “classical guitar” album in the strictest sense of the definition.

Dominic Miller is a classical guitarist.

The immense experience gained in the previous years alongside Sting and Phil Collins, in unending tours or studio recordings, lends just the right balance and wisdom to the final composition of the tracks, so sweet and delicate to the ear as to seem cushioned by silence.

There is only the essential.

The entire work is completed within the four walls of the home and seems to hold the warmth of the affections Dominic Miller wished to keep close during the most important phases of his composition.

Dominic Miller has given us a masterpiece of sweetness and serenity.

The very cover is a piece of that sweetness that reigns in “First Touch.”
Misty, Dominic’s daughter, has just taken her first steps and, wobbling, tries to reach her father who plays those sweet melodies that make her dream so much.
Sasha Gusov captures photographically that moment of natural beauty.
Misty touches her father's hands. First Touch.

Dominic Miller dedicates his work to her, with a tender smile.
