Paradise Lost Draconian Times

Album that I listened to thoroughly up to the eighth-ninth track, a great effort by the band, even though they later stated that while composing the album they were already thinking about the next one, and you can see the results. Nice review, well done.

Mumble...mumble...donkey and polenta...it’s also a typical dish around here. Today we stayed home all day relaxing, so I was able to write some reviews that you'll see, and they’ll make you jump out of your chair in boredom; indeed, you'll be wondering what I'm up to... actually, I jot down the sentences too quickly. Oh, so many topics to discuss, however, I really liked your last comment, in fact, I was thinking you could help me with some musical themes that have been bothering me, but let me think it over and I’ll get back to you. Bye!

@ Bartleboom The point I was making isn’t between "Reign in Blood," which is up there on the pedestal, impervious to outside agents, but between "Time Does Not Heal," regarded as the greatest Thrash album of all time, ahead of "Master..." and "Reign.." in a Metal Hammer ranking (I have the issue at home, and it’s interesting). "Victims of Deception" is more personal than "Time...", yet it's overlooked: who can boast the double solos of "Mercy Is No Virtue"? Certainly not Brett or Eric from Dark Angel. Now, let’s talk about Slayer, one of my favorite bands (I can say it now): every band tried to imitate the wonders of the Assassins, even "South..." why not? (see "Silent Scream") especially Dark Angel, and I thought they should have "called it a day" after "Leave Scars." That’s why I brought up Slayer and "Reign...". The unfolding of events is painful when viewed between Dark Angel and Heathen. Ouch Bartle, "Spill The Blood" has an arpeggio at the beginning, which I closely observed on the DVD "Still Reigning" by Kerry King. If you talk to me about "tritone," it's hard for me to follow you because I’m not a musician: I read the nice discussion between you and HeavyThunderChild, I believe on your review of "Nosferatu" by Helstar (I accidentally deleted the tape years ago, damn it!) and I can’t keep up with you guys. Bye!

Great Ali! The third track "Costitutional Hell" by the late Pintado (R.I.P) is my favorite. A great album, but "World From Exit Wound" was also excellent, especially the first part. Bye!

@Bartleboom: I've never listened to "We Have Arrived," so I can't say which one of the four is my favorite, certainly this one that I've reviewed out of the three remaining. "Darkness Descends" has only seven tracks, and "Merciless Death" comes from the first, but even on "Leave Scars," things are stretched out with the instrumental "Cauterization," "Worms," and "Immigrant Song." All these factors combined don't sit well with me. The rush to catch up with Slayer was pointless; "Reign In Blood" was written with the right producer and the right inspiration. By chance? Out of creative fury? Due to many elements; the bands, however, stubbornly continued to chase Rubin and Kerry. Dark Angel changed three producers over three albums, and after finding the magic Terry Date, they collapsed on everything else. In 1991, the poor Heathen, with the talented producer Rob Beaton and the sparks of Minter's duals and the spectacular axes of Piercy-Altus, were not given the credit they deserved. This development leaves me perplexed, I'm telling you honestly. Thank you for your appreciation. Thanks also to Fidia and death Trasher.

@Lethe. In the album, I read "Cauterization (instrumental) Hoglan/Durkin," "Leave Scars" Hoglan/Durkin, and for the rest, it's all Durkin/Hoglan. On "Time Does Not Heal," it's the same but applied to Hoglan/Eriksen, except this time Hoglan alone signs two songs and Eriksen one, while the rest sees their names inverted. This is written in the credits; I thought these designations were meant to emphasize one person's dominance or the other. As for "Time..." I never liked it; probably Eriksen, who authored two mediocre albums with the Vikings, couldn't adequately replace Durkin and Gene lost his way on his own. The only way to compete with Slayer's "Season..." was to extend the compositions and the complexity of the riffs, and they didn’t succeed, which is why Hoglan considered "Time..." "the downfall of Dark Angel" and they were preparing an album with "shorter tracks" (that was mentioned in a Metal Hammer interview around the time of the Strapping Young Lad album, but I'll need to dig that up). If you want, we can talk about it more; it opens up a nice discussion. Talk soon!

I have the VHS... come on, they're great, even if "Turbo" wasn't well received. Well done!

I'm a fan of "Warmaster" but I haven't heard the latest stuff. The review is good anyway.

I listened to "Ghost" a lot, and that's it, but Peavy is a great character who trusted the two little brothers he had in the band, who then abandoned him.
