What a terrible moment to post my comment...I've landed right in the storm...better get out of here quickly, I don't want to catch a stray bullet.

I don't feel like reading all the comments (but what happened this time?). The little disc is listening right now for the first time. Cute, huh? A nice little artisan job. But it lacks a bit of soul, the willingness to take a risk. Everything sounds like I've heard it a thousand times before. Or maybe I'm just not depressed enough right now...

Come on, let’s all play the new game "Kick the Ass of the Current Idol." Let’s take any artist who has some relevance in the history of music and then have fun shooting blindly our demystifying judgments. A few crude jokes, some poses of a "hardcore alternative" attitude, lots of screaming, and success is guaranteed. Plenty of comments and the admiration of the Punisher and IHIP, what an honor. The musical relevance of the artist in question? We’ll brush that off with two clichés and to cover our backs, we’ll quote Zappa (which always adds a certain touch). The technical structure of that music, the poetics, the influence on the social context? Just say they were clowns in the hands of the majors, and that will bury them. And what about when it’s the turn of Radiohead or Pearl Jam? I bet if tomorrow Sonic Youth suddenly became a commercial success and t-shirts with their faces sold like hotcakes, there would be a Sanjuro ready to write a counter-review to gain his ten minutes of fame.

I'm responding to the call for February 17th. Then the Estragon has just moved to a new location and I'm curious to see that one (hopefully the acoustics have improved). Thanks for the tip.

But above all... who are we? Where are we going? And then MP = Maledetta Primavera or MP = Marco Poletti? And where do the uppercase letters go in MariaElena (or Mariaelena, or mariaElena or even MARIAELENA)... stuff that keeps you awake at night.

Um, excuse me, I just wanted to say that the album is a masterpiece not fully understood... act like I'm not here and go on with the conversation...

What a splendid review, Targetsky... I say this with a hint of envy. Fluent, evocative, just technical enough, thorough. There’s so much to learn. That said, I like to go against the general sentiment and say that I prefer the latest album "The Crane Wife," which is more serious, but also more mature and virtuous, over the earlier, more picaresque albums (just to mention the penultimate) that are playfully folk.

I know, I know, but how the hell did I know we would win in the end of extra time??? Just imagine if it had been another Italy-Germany 4-3... no Sigur Ros concert could compete... instead, it was, all in all, a bad match and the regrets remained...
