It's the first CD I've listened to by Dream Theater, and it doesn't seem to stand out much from the other thousands of hard rock works. Neither infamy nor praise, respectable, tough, with good riffs; what the genre had to say had already been said. Rating: 7.

A surprising, disorienting record that reminds me of Lou Reed's Berlin, American psychedelia from the late '60s, British Pop, and it's also, in a way, a bit like Pink Floyd with airy, cinematic tracks.
