What a fucking album... what a crazy suite De Futura...
Magma: Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Is it ever possible that every time I reach the end of the album, I end up in tears?! ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE! HOW MUCH I LOVE MAGMA!
MC5: Kick Out the Jams
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
Holy shit, what a live, powerful and timeless!
Megadeth: Rust in Peace
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
The masterpiece of Megadeth and thrash metal as a whole...the constant accelerations, the continuous time changes, the compositional originality and technical prowess...Chapeau.
Mel Brooks: Frankenstein Junior
File Video I have it ★★★★★
To call it a masterpiece is almost an insult to this monument.
Metallica: St. Anger
File Audio I have it ★
Insulting this album is like giving it a compliment.
Metallica: Ride The Lightning
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
The masterpiece by Metallica, marking the definitive maturation, among other things immediate, of the band. It is the perfect balance between pure thrash metal and softer sounds...majestic.
Michael Cimino: Il cacciatore
File Video I have it ★★★★★
One of the best war films (even though it’s not entirely accurate to label it as such), magnetic, psychological, perfect...
Mike Oldfield: Tubular Bells
Vinile I have it ★★★★★
When I discovered that there was this enormous vinyl at my grandparents' house, I was determined to put it on the turntable at all costs...too bad the turntable was broken, so I couldn't enjoy this immense masterpiece of Mike in its multiple 48 minutes once again. It's incredible how, at not yet 20 years old, with a base of just 3-4 notes (made famous thanks to the movie The Exorcist), he managed to create this immense suite! Referring to the debut, given that the debasio presents difficulties in collecting it.

The Exorcist, my favorite movie of all time..

You know I've never seen it in my 19 years of existence? ahahahah

The cover, however, is by the Tubular Bells Two... Were you referring (like me) to the first one?

    Yes

I am a big horror enthusiast, and my nickname refers to the saga from the 80s. I watched The Exorcist years ago with friends for the thirtieth anniversary, and it impressed me quite a bit. Now, compared to new films with fantastic special effects, it seems dated, but for me, it remains the best of all time.

I haven't watched movies consistently in years. However, my favorite films remain The Godfather and Citizen Kane.
Miles Davis: Kind of Blue
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
An incredibly balanced jazz that you can't help but love...
Minutemen: Double Nickels On The Dime
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
How to compress about ten different genres (I certainly won't list them, there are too many!) each one apart from the other into a double album (consisting of 45 songs, each one very different from the others, characterized by a short duration), a milestone in the music of the late twentieth century: stuff that only the Minutemen can pull off. Uncatalogable, unclassifiable, pure adrenaline and madness for a full 1 hour and 15 minutes! Incredible!
Morphine: Yes
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
And boom. Hat trick, third masterpiece in a row for the Morphine...
Morphine: Good
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
Monumentally... I have literally lost my mind over this masterpiece.

Obsession leads to suicide. Like Good. Like Loveless. Like Modern Dance; all albums you seem to be hoarding, from what I can see.

What matters is the quality of an album, I couldn't care less whether it's cheerful or somber. And this album is of the highest quality.
  • fuggitivo
    29 may 16
Very high quality? I would say it's among the top 10 in the history of modern music.
  • tonysoprano

    Top 10 probably yes.

Sometimes I wonder how the Gun Club managed to pull out classics like those in Fire of Love in '81. Classic tracks, formally perfect, that belong to 50 years or more before. Well, Good has blues of that caliber.

I still have to listen to the Gun Club, even though I've heard around that they are badass.

Morphine: Cure For Pain
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
Perfect album, aggressive, dark, ruthless, shatters bones: too bad there's a certain "Good", otherwise it would be a true masterpiece of Morphine, damn how much I love them.

Great album indeed! Good is superior for me, but we're talking about masterpieces! Anyway, morphine is my favorite drug!! XD

Well, let's talk about one of my favorite bands of all time. Perhaps MY favorite band, even though I find it hard to choose and I'm very fickle...
  • tonysoprano

I am in a phase where I am torn between Led Zeppelin, The Who, and Van Der Graaf Generator. For the triple threat Good-Cure The Pain-Yes, Morphine deserve eternal praise.

My favorite group is to be chosen from: Morphine, Sonic Youth, Joy Division, Slowdive, Pain of Salvation, and Gentle Giant. I might be forgetting someone, but out of affection, these are generally the ones I feel most connected to.

Of those you mentioned, I don't know Slowdive and Pain of Salvation.

Slowdive are a '90s English Shoegaze band. Rachel Goswell's voice gets me all worked up, I don't know why. PoS are a Swedish prog-metal band. The first true musical love of my childhood! They might not be the best of all time, but the heart wants what it wants.
  • tonysoprano

I still need to dive deeper into shoegaze, as I haven't listened to Loveless by My Bloody Valentine yet. I'm currently in a "full" progressive phase. I'll definitely get into that genre.
  • Mr. Money87

Don't worry, stay in prog phase! The prog phase is beautiful!!!! XD
  • tonysoprano

more or less XD anyway, bands like Van Der Graaf Generator pushed me to get to know him better.
  • Mr. Money87

There's a whole lot to know about prog! I actually started right from there. First prog-metal (at 15-16) then prog rock, although I began by listening to Italian prog, before diving into the English stuff.
  • tonysoprano
    22 aug 16
I started with Yes, Genesis, and King Crimson.
  • Mr. Money87
    22 aug 16
Well, it's a nice start. And how are you with the Italian prog?
  • tonysoprano
    22 aug 16
I know all the albums by Area (even if I'm not sure I could seriously consider them prog), Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Orme, and PFM.
  • tonysoprano

    And Alan Sorrenti, obviously.
