AC/DC: Back In Black
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
AC/DC: Highway To Hell
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
AC/DC: High Voltage
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
It's a long way to the top If you wanna Rock 'n' Roll ......
AC/DC: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
CD Audio I have it ★★★
The weakest album of the Bon era, without a doubt... However, the title track is one of the best songs they have ever written... "Ride On" is also beautiful...
AC/DC: Let There Be Rock
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
The band's first masterpiece... Even today, it's impossible not to get pumped up when "Whole Lotta Rosie" starts playing...
AC/DC: Powerage
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
When talking about AC/DC, albums like "Back In Black" and "Highway to Hell" are mainly remembered (rightly so)... In some cases, someone might also mention "Let There Be Rock"... But no one ever brings up this little forgotten masterpiece... Tracks like the devastating "Riff Raff," "Sin City," "Rock n Roll Damnation," "Kicked In The Teeth," "Up To My Neck In You," "Down Payment Blues," "What's Next To The Moon" have nothing to envy from the masterpieces found in the more famous albums!!

Perhaps my favorite from the Bon Scott era, an aggressive album, effective riffs, great grit and character. Strange that it is never remembered for what it deserves...
AC/DC: Flick Of The Switch
CD Audio I have it ★★★
Album that already shows the signs of the slight decline that will hit the band in the following years (excluding "Razors Edge"). However, it holds up well despite not having a true standout track within it.
AC/DC: Fly On The Wall
CD Audio I have it ★★
Their worst album (with "Stiff Upper Lip")... A little bit of nothing made even worse by a mix that is nothing short of terrible! (1.5)
AC/DC: Blow Up Your Video
CD Audio I have it ★★★
Album that I've come to appreciate a lot over time... Okay, it's not comparable to "Powerage" or "Let There Be Rock," but there are some songs that can really get you moving... "Two's Up" is very underrated!
It doesn't stand up at all in comparison to its predecessor (Back in Black), but it is definitely an enjoyable album with some important tracks (the title track and "Let's get it up" above all).

Aquarius27, what's the best for you? I only have Back in Black which I bought recently, but it doesn't do much for me because AC/DC are too "overexposed"; I've always heard them on TV, radio, etc. Let There Be Rock (the song) has been popping into my head for months, but Dirty Deeds seems to be the best along with Back in Black. I don't know...

For me, it’s Back In Black, for many reasons that I won’t explain here or we’d be up all night :)... However, I can’t forget to include among my favorites (all equally worthy), Highway to Hell, Let There Be Rock, Powerage, and High Voltage... The first one is the last with Bon Scott, and it’s truly a great album (many consider it their best)... Let There Be Rock has tracks that will drive you insane; aside from the title track, try listening to "Whole Lotta Rosie" (one of my absolute favorites), Bad Boy Boogie, Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be (the live version at River Plate is something spectacular), and Dog Eat Dog. "Powerage" is their most underrated album... I didn’t like it much at first either, but over time it’s become one of my favorites; just listen to "Riff Raff" or "Sin City" (I mention just these two, but the whole album is amazing) and you’ll understand why!!! "High Voltage" is their album that comes closest to blues... You mention "Dirty Deeds..." which for me is the least good work of the "Bon Scott era" (the albums I mentioned all feature Scott on vocals). It’s a good album, but if you listen closely to the ones I pointed out, it doesn’t hold up in comparison. As you can see, I haven’t included any albums with Brian Johnson (except for Back in Black), because while their style remains unchanged, the records have that little something less compared to the earlier works... Perhaps only, actually definitely, "The Razors Edge" is the best of the post-"Back" era, but a casual listener might not enjoy it as much, while a fan will surely appreciate it more...

However, keep in mind that I'm speaking as a die-hard fan; they're everything to me... My favorite band, so I also appreciate other albums that I haven't mentioned... Since we're on the topic (since I understand you want to listen only to their most successful works), I advise against buying albums like "Fly On the Wall," "Ballbreaker," and "Stiff Upper Lip" blindly, because those are undoubtedly their worst works, and I don't find them great either!!
  • Aquarius27

Yes, I just wanted to buy only the most successful ones. At most, maybe two more. Thanks for the advice, perhaps a bit more than I expected. I still feel a bit lost in an ocean XD. I'll take a look on YouTube. Anyway, I'm definitely leaving High Voltage where it is because I think I've understood what it's about, and I really can't stand it. In the end, the best one seems to be Let There Be Rock, right?

Run away, don't take any of them, they all suck :D Just kidding, I would also focus on the super fun and enjoyable Let There (especially) and Highway to Hell. As for Back in Black, I'd throw it into the first stream that passed by me if I weren't afraid of polluting it.

The albums with Bon Scott are, I believe, in the hearts of all the band's fans... "Let There", "Powerage", "Highway" (and I always include "High Voltage") are just too important... So yes, it was Scott for life!

Aerosmith: Toys In The Attic
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
"Walk this Way" and "Sweet Emotion".... These two immense tracks are more than enough for me to give this album a well-deserved 5...
Aerosmith: Aerosmith
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
A more than good debut for the Boston band... Glory will come later, but when a record includes tracks like "Dream On" and "Mama Kin," the verdict can only be positive!!
Aerosmith: Get your Wings
CD Audio I have it ★★★
Definitely a more mature band on this album. The record is really well played and sung, but it lacks the "Mama Kin" of the situation, or "Dream On" ("Seasons Of Wither??) maybe... For this reason, I feel the debut remains slightly superior, but it's definitely a great album...
Aerosmith: Rocks
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
The album of maturation, of consecration, call it what you like... The fact is that Rocks is one of those albums you could listen to forever!

Definitely their best from the '70s, with "Toys in the Attic" just a notch behind...
Aerosmith: Draw The Line
CD Audio I have it ★★★
A couple of gems (like the title track and Kings and Queens), plus various highly enjoyable tracks! (3.5)
Aerosmith: Night In The Ruts
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Probably their most underrated album!
Aerosmith: Permanent Vacation
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Let's start by saying that the rating is a 5-, because after all, there are a few minor tracks... However, our artists gift us pearls like "Rag Doll," "Dude (Looks Like A Lady)," "Angel," the title track, plus various highly enjoyable pieces like "Magic Touch," "Simoriah," "Heart Done Time"... The band maintained their inspiration at its peak even in subsequent releases, publishing two more gems like "Pump" and "Get a Grip."
Aerosmith: Pump
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Album that marked the actual rebirth of the band after the excellent "Permanent Vacation"... The famous "Love in An Elevator" has become a staple in the band's live performances... Beautiful tracks like "the Other Side," "Janie's Got A Gun," but the whole album is at a very high level...
Airbourne: Runnin' wild
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
AC/DC lovers cannot miss out on Airbourne. "Runnin' Wild" is inspired by the early works of Angus and co., especially "Let There Be Rock" and "Powerage"... While being clones, the O'Keeffe brothers have given their own touch to the band... An album to listen to when you need a good dose of adrenaline!!!
Airbourne: No Guts. No Glory.
CD Audio I have it ★★★
Slightly less direct than the excellent debut. The standout tracks are certainly not lacking ("Raise the flag," "Chewin' the Fat," "Born To Kill"), but in this work, the band seems less inspired. The final result is still satisfying.
Alice In Chains: Facelift
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Yes, it’s inferior to Dirt and "Alice in Chains"... but I really like it a lot!!! It deserves much (I mean much, at least 3 times) more consideration... in my humble opinion!!!

I've always liked it a lot, and I particularly enjoyed playing along with it. It's a shame about the very metal production; with a "more Dirt" sound, I would have appreciated it a hundred times more. It still often comes back on in my car.

For me, superior to Tripod and lower, but not by much, than Dirt. Very raw but less distorted and liquid, more of a direct punch to the stomach (Put you down, I can't remember, Sunshine are tracks that I hadn’t felt at first contact with Alice but that I learned to appreciate a lot), compared to the slow and acidic decomposition of Dirt.

Alice In Chains: Unplugged
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Watching the video of this immense live performance always makes me feel anxious. It's impossible not to feel a shiver down my spine seeing Layne in that condition.. Devastated, suffering, yet he gifts us a performance that can only be described as incredible!!

Yes, this is and will remain one of the most beautiful and intense unplugged sessions. Layne is superb, but the rest is no less impressive; tracks like Sludge Factory and Frogs reinterpreted in an acoustic key do not lose any of their dark charm at all.

Beautiful. I had it on VHS. Staley was as magnetic as he was 'tried'. Here the game was clearly slipping out of his hands, having also gone through the same swamps myself and seen the A.I.C. just three years before when they came to Milan for the 'Dirt' tour, when he was still openly 'in control' of his choices. And of his mind. Immense. Part of my (early) life.

First album for the new Creed, or rather for Alter Bridge... Out Stapp, in a certain Myles Kennedy... An almost perfect album... Sharp riffs, Kennedy's extraordinary voice, and beautiful lyrics... Alter Bridge: Blackbird
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
I love Alter Bridge too much, so my judgment on the album can only be positive... The best one from the band to date... The title track is worth entire discographies; it may sound like an exaggeration, but that’s how I feel... Myles has a unique, inimitable voice... He could make even a Pupo song beautiful with that incredible vocal talent...
avenged sevenfold: nightmare
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
The first album without "The Rev" is paradoxically the most beautiful of the band. "Buried Alive" is a masterpiece, "Victim" is on the same level... The title track is lovely, as well as "Welcome to the Family," and all the others because they all deserve to be mentioned. The peak of the album is reached with the dedication to the departed friend! "So Far Away" is an incredible piece!! Emotional and intense with a terrifying solo, with the guitar almost crying from pain! 5 for life!

  • Dragonstar

...and to think that the title track was composed as a filler to stretch the album's length by a few minutes! I am an anti-classicist when it comes to music. It's rare for a piece of history that has also conquered the mainstream to be one of my favorite tracks. For example, it's uncommon for me to find myself humming... I don't know? Smoke On the Water, Whole Lotta Love, Back in Black... but I must say that Paranoid (the song) still manages to captivate me. That's not like me! Ah, you forgot to mention Hand of Doom, a piece that single-handedly introduced heavy, doom, and thrash metal in one go! Now that track is a true, misunderstood piece of history!

Damn, let's reevaluate "Volume 4," which is fabulous. Then, I agree with Silas; "Sabotage" is good but definitely not as great as the first five. The last two with Ozzy aren't much to write home about, and "Heaven and Hell" brought a bit of fresh air into their music but with a style that doesn't blow me away. In the pantheon, for a quintet of monstrously beautiful albums.
  • Aquarius27

"Vol.4" and "Sabotage" two great albums... "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" almost a masterpiece.. Between "Ecstasy" and "Never" I don't know which one is the worst of the Ozzy era... "Heaven and Hell" masterpiece... "Mob Rules" great album... just like "Born Again"... "Seventh Star" nice but nothing more... "Eternal Idol" and "Headless Cross" two great albums... "Tyr" nice but inferior to the first two... "Dehumanizer" can be liked or not, I'm in the middle... "Cross Purposes" nice... "Forbidden" the only real misstep in their discography... "13" brings us back to the old Sabbath of the good times!!

Wonderful album, the latest wonderful album by Black Sabbath as far as I’m concerned, but @[Aquarius27] do me a favor and change that profile picture :D We’re all happy and joyful #notreally because Gion Sno is back, but that thing is impossible to look at XD And here, I dedicate this to you, it wasn't Melisandre who brought him back, nor the god of fire... No, it was Kate Bush!
  • Aquarius27

Melisandre (or Carice, call her what you like) would bring the dead back to life from halfway around the world thanks to the body and face she has, without uttering those random words spoken in the series... Although I must say that I’ve never really liked her character... "The return to the sounds of the beginnings" Ehhh?
  • Dragonstar
    27 dec 15
...in fact, the album sounds much heavier compared to the hard doom of the early records. I believe it means it returns to being decadent and dark; in fact, the last two with Ozzy had somewhat lost the gloomy and unhealthy vein of the 70-75 period. Nevertheless, I want to say that "Techncal Ecstasy" from '76, I really like a lot. This one, we won't even mention...
  • hjhhjij
    28 dec 15
But it's not decadent and dark, and it's still very far from the sounds of the early albums, beautiful or not, like it or not, it's a fresh album precisely because it's completely different from the beginnings (and Ronnie James' "epic" vein had quite an influence, I believe). It’s lightyears away from the distorted Hard-Blues and the Doom seed of the early albums; they are two utterly distant universes...
  • Aquarius27
    28 dec 15
It sounds much more like early Black Sabbath than the tired late Ozzy era. The title track is an example of that! It’s clear that it’s more influenced by Dio, but here I personally hear a lot of Black Sabbath from the '69-'75 period rather than '76-'78!
  • BARRACUDA BLUE
    28 dec 15
Ronnie James in Sabbath resumes the conversation interrupted in Rainbow in his own way, less doom and more epic, revitalizing the band and offering Iommi new ideas to shine with his riffs. The only legendary band re-emerging in the fiery NWOBHM scene as a reference point for the evolution of an entire genre. In this album, the balance between the parts was almost perfect.
Black Sabbath: Mob rules

Just today, after a couple of weeks, I turned on the car stereo again, and there was Mob Rules on the third track, "The Sign Of The Southern Cross" for those who are less informed. Now you might say, how is that possible? You drove around in the car for weeks without music as background?? You must be crazy!!! Anyway, the album reminded me that I still hadn’t given a definition and a rating to the record... What can I say, it's inferior to its predecessor, but still superior to the myriad of metal albums that have been released in recent years!!
