Camel: Breathless
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Echoes is a small masterpiece; reaching the end after the first three tracks can be a bit tiring, but listening to the first ones is a delight every time.
Camel: Nude
File Audio I have it ★★★★
Damn, how beautiful are "City Life" and "Drafted"! 1981, a high-level Progressive Rock album, some tracks from this album remind me of Gabriel's Genesis. Magnificent Camel.
Caravan: Waterloo Lily
File Video I have it ★★★★★
How arousing Lily is...
Caravan: In The Land Of Grey And Pink
File Audio I have it ★★★★★
In the land of gray and pink where only the boy scouts stop to think... and then leave you Nine Feet Underground, a 20-minute masterpiece. WOW.

What a wonder "Nine feet underground"... 22 sublime minutes!
Great debut, perhaps the most beautiful album.
Elton John: Empty Sky
File Audio I have it ★★★★
Erasure: The Innocents
Vinile I have it ★★★★
Some tracks are also 5.
  • Danny The Kid
    8 oct 14
Witch In The Ditch is fabulous, but Yahoo and Imagination are no less; the cover of River Deep Mountain High is spectacular.
  • BARRACUDA BLUE

    All the tracks are 5.

I love all the first 9 tracks, the rest 4 stars.

Beautiful album. Sounds that remind me of Genesis and Camel (especially Nude).

"Nude" is a bit strange since it's 4 years later :) But it's plausible that Locanda's music recalls Genesis, especially '76-'77, and Camel. You can hear Hackett in the guitar.
  • FrenkyWestSide
    9 nov 14
It means that it's Nude reminding me of this album :) (in fact, I hadn't really thought about the timing issue :/)
Osanna: Palepoli
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
The best album by the group. On par with foreign albums of the same period and genre. We (the Italians) should be proud to have produced such masterpieces. Oro caldo is an absurd masterpiece for my taste.
Pink Floyd: The Division Bell
Vinile I have it ★★★★
Waters was wrong, the Pink Floyd were not finished.
Pink Floyd: Obscured By Clouds
Vinile I have it ★★★
For me, it's a no.

I think it’s the most brilliant album of the magical year 1967 (where there are great records in abundance)...
  • hjhhjij
    26 may 14
I think I agree with Hell, perhaps except for Absolutely Free by Zappa. A colossal album throughout the ages.
  • hjhhjij
    26 may 14
Anyway yes, 1967 is one of the greatest years in the history of music.
  • hjhhjij

Here, I almost forgot the VU banana. No, sorry, but that one wins, hands down.
  • FrenkyWestSide

Surrealistic Pillow, where do you place it? The first two by the Doors, the first by the Moody Blues? Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band! What great years!!!
  • De...Marga...
    26 may 14
And it’s also my birth year; have you ever wondered where all my wisdom comes from?
  • FrenkyWestSide

    Blessed are you!
  • hjhhjij
    26 may 14
"Surrealistic Pillow, where do you place it? The first two from The Doors." Indeed, indeed. The other two a bit less, but I would like to add Safe As Milk by Cuordimanzo and "Underground" by the Electric Prunes. As mentioned, one of the greatest years of all time.
  • De...Marga...
    26 may 14
When it comes to seriously discussing the album, I definitely prefer Pink Floyd from Atom Heart Mother onwards, when my beloved David's guitar sound starts to "take over." Still, the first album by the English band is genius, psychedelic, dreamy... a masterpiece.
  • hjhhjij
    26 may 14
"Bless you!" Yeah, but in the meantime, I’m twenty and he’s 47 :P haha
  • De...Marga...
    26 may 14
I swear hjhhjij that for a good moment I had to pause over the Cuordimanzo, unable to grasp the group; then everything quickly revealed itself and I can only agree with you: Signorsi Signor Capitano.

Yes, but I have seen almost THREE HUNDRED concerts and you haven't!!!!
  • FrenkyWestSide
    26 may 14
At this point, let's add The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators and Mr. Fantasy by Traffic.
  • hjhhjij
    26 may 14
"Yes, but I've seen almost THREE HUNDRED concerts and you haven't." It's not a matter of age, but of DESIRE, and you definitely have more of it than I do. P.S.: Beefheart is still Beefheart, that album is awesome.
  • hjhhjij
    26 may 14
Psychedelic Sound is from 1966, though. Ok Mr. Fantasy, but I don't know that album well. Of Traffic, I only know one well, guess which one?
  • FrenkyWestSide

Damn, alright, November 1966, so we're there. I have no idea which album you know well :P

    26 may 14
Since I like the game, let's play: I would add Love with the stunning combo "Da Capo/Forever Changes," "Goodbye and Hello" by Mr. Buckley, and Cream with "Disraeli Gears."
  • De...Marga...
    26 may 14
In my opinion, the one with the title that starts with the name Giovanni in English, released in 1970.

    26 may 14
Nice album Mr. Fantasy, but in my opinion, it doesn’t hold up to the glory of The Piper. However, Sergeant Pepper beats them all, absolutely!

    De...Marga... Maybe eh
  • hjhhjij
    26 may 14
Yes, that’s what DeMa says :) Kudos to DeMa for referencing that masterpiece by Tim Buckley, "Goodbye and Hello." "Anyway, Sgt. Pepper beats them all." Yes hell, as always XD

We have forgotten, and I only realize it now, my favorite from that year that came out in March. I leave you with the question that will be rewarded with a bunch of BANANAS...
  • hjhhjij

Oh no, my friend, in the fourth comment I wrote: "I forgot the VU banana. No, sorry but that one wins, by a landslide." :)

    26 may 14
Never mind and I apologize!!! It was already mentioned, rightly so, hjhhjij. So I ask for forgiveness by mentioning the two first works of Mr. Hendrix from Seattle that were both released in 1967.
  • hjhhjij
    26 may 14
Well, I had said it: one of the best musical years ever, gold medal, a very rare vintage.

Too many titles, impossible to rank them. I’ll add the Stones with Satanic, the 13th Floor with Easter Everywhere, Hendrix (good Dema), the first Grateful Dead, Wind of Change by the Animals, Sell Out by the Who, Younger by the Byrds, Side Trips by Kaleidoscope...scary year...
  • De...Marga...

@ hjhhjij. About a decade ago, in my Domodossola, the most famous record store, called "Discaio," closed down; I spent entire afternoons of my youth inside it, personally knowing the owner who was ten to twelve years older than me. We liked to play a game where we would reminisce about historic records or bands from the years ranging from the sixties to the two-thousands. Guess where we lingered the most? By the way, Walter—that was his name—had seen Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, to name the first ones that came to mind, back in the seventies. I cried bitter tears when he shut his doors. Those were incredibly important years for Music, and we’re not discovering that now.
  • De...Marga...
    26 may 14
@ Hellraiser: your innate passion for those years makes you one of the most reliable and knowledgeable writers on the site; and it is a great pleasure for me to exchange musical opinions with characters of your caliber, without taking anything away from Hjhhjij and Frenky. Well done, guys.

The live part 5, I still can’t listen to the studio part all the way through... I just can't manage it.

    26 may 14
A bit dull, isn't it? The recording is excellent for its time. I still have the vinyl and it actually has a fantastic sound. We could talk about the quality of the compositions until tomorrow. However, I believe it's an album worth keeping. For better or for worse.

The mere Echoes is worth the purchase, in my opinion the most beautiful song by the Floyd from the Gilmour era.
Not counting Obscured By Clouds and More, I think it's the worst of the Pink.
  • hjhhjij
    26 may 14
This one is uglier than Obscured and More, those ones are decent, this one is a bit of a mess.

Nice, but I think watching the movie is more impactful.
The musical continuity of The Wall and Final Cut... the first two stand strong... this one doesn't. Sorry Roger
  • GIANLUIGI67

a shameful cover, perhaps as much as the album itself. Even "Radio Kaos" was indecent. As a teenager, I was obsessed with Pink Floyd, but today I wonder why; "The Wall" is a heavy-handed work on the verge of tastefulness, and the last thing I like is "Echoes."
  • madcat

    A typically Pink Floyd cover.
  • ZannaB
    9 jun 14
Let's say that over the years he has become increasingly pompous; for me, the peak (of pomposity) was reached with Amused to Death, but The Wall is still worthy of attention. Let it be clear, attention, not compliments.

    Loquacious.....
  • perfect element
    27 jun 15
Just for Clapton's guitar, it deserves the highest score. Secondly, Waters is loved and cannot be debated. Amused To Death represents his solo peak and is not at all pompous; it is a masterpiece, considering the lineup of guest artists.
  • ZannaB
    29 jun 15
I consider a masterpiece based on the compositions, not on who performed them. An album can be pompous and a masterpiece at the same time. For me, however, Amused to Death is just pompous, not a masterpiece. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, it just means it’s pompous.
  • ZannaB
    29 jun 15
Is it clear that I find it pompous? If not, I’ll say it again...
  • perfect element
    22 aug 16
Just the three parts of 'what God wants' would be enough to annihilate anyone; one must not confuse the search for the perfect sound with pomposity.
  • ZannaB
    22 aug 16
Damn Perfect, but after how many years did you finally reply???
For me, Amused was and remains a pompous hodgepodge, just like The Wall: both contain beautiful tracks (see What God Wants) but both drown in a sea of self-referentiality and pretentiousness.
"Look at me, I'm Waters, I'm good and I'm cool," okay, but come on, enough already...

Of course, I don't expect others to agree with my opinion. If it moves you, I understand why and I'm happy for you; even though I find it pretentious, we're certainly not talking about cheap trivial music...
