Peter Gabriel: II
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
I own it and I like it! "Controversial" album? Well... I've always liked it, many of the tracks hit the mark, maybe the production (Robert Fripp) didn't satisfy Gabriel himself...

I keep repeating that Gabriel soloist is very overrated...

Gabriel as a solo artist surprises (but perhaps not) just like Hammill as a solo artist, never surpassing the heights they reached with their band, but close enough, able to evolve and maintain themselves at extraordinary levels like few others.
Pino Daniele: Nero A Metà

What can I say...so much content, beautiful pieces, perfect arrangements, a record like this can only be produced once in a lifetime. "Vai mo'" and "Bella m'briana" are two truly worthy heirs.

I would also add "Musicante" from 1984... then just craft.

Exactly up to "Musicante," then too much experimentation and little inspiration. The 80s were tough for many!
Pino Daniele: Bella 'Mbriana
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Last chapter of the stratospheric "Quintet" of Pino that we love the most.
The beginning of "Tutta 'nata storia" gives me the same chills today as it did thirty years ago.
Not overly inspired, however, it confirms the group's willingness to adapt to the new musical climate of the '80s. Unlike "Suonare Suonare," this time there aren't any truly successful tracks; perhaps "Weekend" and "Quartiere 8." Mussida's guitar shines, demonstrating his ability to effortlessly adjust to a more pop and commercial sound.

"Play play," "It can be done," and "Voice Master" are all three convincing. The best tracks with Franz Di Cioccio on vocals might be the presence of Flavio Premoli.

I don't think so; on the contrary, by now they had done what they had to and could do. This is a little disk that, compared to the first ones they made, pales in comparison.

Maestro della Voce, the piece dedicated to Stratos, is nonetheless remarkable. But more in the version found on Live In Japan from 2002.

I probably let one too many little stars slip away, and aside from the 3 mentioned tracks, it's not that great; however, it’s better than the subsequent ones, no comparison to the earlier ones, of course!
Premiata Forneria Marconi: Passpartù

Splendid acoustic sound, original lyrics, subtle melodies...a little hidden gem. A record to be rediscovered, produced in a transitional historical period. Rating 3.5.
