Franco Battiato: L'arca di Noè
CD Audio I have it ★★★
Sure, when compared to "The Voice of the Master," it pales in comparison...however, when considered on its own, it offers good insights. A somewhat heavy mood pervades it, but some moments of brilliance are still present. 3.5

"Of course, compared to 'The Voice of the Master' it is probably true, yet I prefer this to the voice, an album that says nothing to me, even though it is undoubtedly a highly refined pop record. Not to mention how much I consider 'The Era of the White Boar,' 'Patriots,' and 'Physiognomy' superior to the voice."

;) no, even "to eclipse" compared to La Voce... I don't think so. Only Donnarumma's role is (partially) diminished; for the rest, the solutions are very similar. In fact, pieces like Radio Varsavia or L'Esodo are easily on the same level as their predecessor. Then it really depends on how much a record can communicate with you, and from my point of view, L'Arca has lost very little over the years.

The Voice of the Master is a masterpiece, but this one is a close second: it's less immediate, but it has some truly great tracks (maybe Clamori and New Frontiers don't blow me away, but they fit within the album).

Franco 2013 "There have been successful albums, in which most of the songs were of good quality, and others less so. I could mention L’Arca di Noè. It's an album that has quite a high hype, a lot of people are enthusiastic about it, I’m less so... if we take away Voglio vederti danzare and Scalo a Grado, the other songs weren't that great."
