Caribou: Swim
CD Audio I have it ★★★
Interesting album in the more "pop" tracks. Light experimentation in the rest of the overall work. A decent album that won't become one of my favorites. Nice to listen to at "convivial" occasions.
Coldplay: Prospekt's March EP
CD Audio I have it ★★
A fall from grace, in my opinion. A return to the origins that I really didn't want to expect after a beautiful and innovative Viva La Vida. Simple and shamefully pop. Only "Life in Technicolor II" is nice.
Coldplay: Letf Right Left Right
CD Audio I have it ★★★
Mediocre live EP that fully showcases the pop potential of the band. Nice idea to distribute it for free at the shows (even though here, our very own Elio E Le Storie Tese are winning with their "Brulè" CDs) but it's not really a "must."
Coldplay: Christmas Lights
CD Audio I have it ★★
The usual pop omelet, which even comes out individually, in a completely isolated context, created solely for the exclusive need to sell and to be able to show up under the tree even in 2011. All in all, a nice and catchy song, pure Coldplay style, the theme for a possible movie finale titled "Christmas at Chris Martin's House."
Coldplay: Mylo Xyloto
CD Audio I have it ★★★
After the sound turning point of Viva la Vida, Coldplay had two paths: to dive into good electronic experimentation under Eno's watchful eye, or to insert synths with dreadful and random sounds and propose nonsense in 4/4 from "ignorant disco." The CD isn't bad in itself, because I like certain songs ("Up In Flames" has spectacular sounds and the idea of doing a dub piece is more than excellent and fitting), but the pop shamefulness teeters on the edge of compositional idiocy.
Eno feels and feels again. A decisive turning point for a group that was increasingly saturating into a pop that was all the same and not very impactful. With Viva La Vida they made a considerable qualitative leap, which might lead to not appreciating everything that follows.
I like every song and they are innovative (for the POP field). While they may not offer groundbreaking novelties in the history of music, in their genre they were the first to want to completely change face and style...
Coldplay: X & Y
CD Audio I have it ★★★
An album that may grow on you as you listen to it. The Kraftwerkian rendition of Talk/Computer Love is nice, and the increased use of electronic instruments such as synthesizers is commendable. All in all, however, it’s a mediocre album in terms of creative offering. It deserves a 3.5.
Coldplay: A Rush Of Blood To The Head
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
A beautiful, decisive, effective pop rock. Good study of the tracks and nice melodies. A drop in quality with "Green Eyes" and "Amsterdam," which make you want to vomit.
Coldplay: Parachutes
CD Audio I have it ★★★
Real rating: 3.5.
A beautiful album, beautiful tracks. But too, TOO, TTTTTTOOOOOO melancholy. Great for romantic movie soundtracks or for people who are emotionally in an "active" situation (both positively and negatively). The songs themselves sound very similar to each other. For me, it has been overrated in terms of compositional quality. Melodically enjoyable and listenable.
